Soul On Jazz
$12.09 Chaka Khan is no stranger to reinvention. Initially known as the singer for 1970s funkateers Rufus, she went on to become a solo star, and in the '80s she enjoyed a career resurgence via the hip-hop-inflected smash "I Feel For You." In the late '90s, there was yet another chapter to the Chaka story, with an album masterminded by Prince. FUNK THIS, her first album of original material since that Prince platter, actually follows an album of jazz standards, but as the title implies ...
| | George Benson Collaboration CD (1987)
Soul On Jazz
$8.39 1987's appropriately-titled COLLABORATION was Benson's first all-instrumental album in 11 years, and the first time he and acoustic guitarist Earl Klugh had teamed up for a recording. Klugh shines on "Brazilian Stomp," while Benson puts out some fluid work on "Mimosa" as well as on the title cut. Benson's scatting, Marcus Miller's skilled bass playing and Harvey Mason's taps offer some quality live support, while most of the background instrumentation ...

| | Have You Heard CD (2008)
Soul On Jazz
$6.39 The Debut e.p. from the Los Angles band Heard is a blistering and melodic voyage of sonic sound you can't help but get lost in. The albums main themes seem to be fully rooted in obstacles and overcoming them. The album is textured with swirling layers of guitars and melodic vocals that simply shimmer with passion. From the opening notes of the infections punk opener of "Cancer " the riff tells you the ride has begun and the train never slows down past the catchy chorus of longing until it glides into the last note. Straight into "Remember" the perfect mix of jangly ninties rock of the versus into the slamming rock filled chorus of "Keep telling me, spare me all your advise you leave". Out through the epic bridge that there is hope. Where you land on "Ever after" which tells the story of lost love in the beautifully executed loud soft style that is reminiscent of and angry Weezer or a heavy Pixies. Through side A onto side B you have travelled a mountain of emotions and valley's of rippling sonic sounds. Track four(side B) Kicks off with the teen angst of " Beautiful Loser" The riff itself is blistering machine gun let off by a thunderous rhythm section that is paper thin tight. The 5th track is the metal punk dirty sound of "Half/Asleep/Half Awake" Again the obstacle of Hope and the ability to endure and the passion of oneself. Where the final track on the e.p. is entitled "Till Death do us Part". An ecstasy of swirling ...
