| | Enrique Iglesias Cosas Del Amor CD (1998)
Vivir CD music
$9.89 COSAS DEL AMOR was nominated for a 1999 Grammy for Best Latin Pop Performance.
Here's a Latin-pop crossover anyone with two eyes could have seen coming a mile away. Enrique Iglesias is possessed of a vocal style that obviously has its roots in the rich, romantic Latin ballad tradition, but he's too much the modernist (and aspirant icon) to leave it at that. Buoyed by lush, carefully crafted arrangements, Iglesias incorporates elements of Anglo pop and even some contemporary R&B into COSAS DEL AMOR. From his suave demeanor on the album cover to his impassioned, sensual vocal style, Iglesias stands as something of a Latin Love God, and he doesn't need to sing in English to achieve international appeal among the romantically inclined (especially those of the female gender).

| | Kylie Minogue Fever CD (2002) (Import) Bonus Tracks; Japan
Vivir songs
$41.99 The 2002 enhanced Japan-only version features four additional tracks and two videos.
It's more than just journalistic shorthand to refer to Kylie Minogue as the European Madonna. She's been at it as long as the Material Girl, and her mix of sexy style and dance-pop sound is very much in league with that of her American counterpart. The catch here is that, while Minogue had previously only been a star in Europe, FEVER represents her American breakthrough. Not surprisingly, the sound of FEVER will appeal to fans of Madonna's MUSIC album. It's full of bubbly synths, amiably poppy melodies, club beats and sensual vocal stylings. If anything, Minogue comes off as slightly less hard-edged than you-know-who, more concerned with immersing herself in the songs and production than in projecting her larger-than-life personality. That kind of attitude can only aid in the making of a successful pop record, which is the most accurate description of FEVER.

| | Barbra Streisand Duets CD (2002) Remastered
Vivir album
$10.15 DUETS is a compilation of duets and contains a new duet recording with Barry Manilow, "I Won't Be The One Let Go".
Barbra Streisand's long and varied career is the stuff of legend, as the actress/director/songstress consistently takes chances, never content to rest on her laurels. DUETS, a collection of her collaborations, reflects this wide-sweeping talent, amassing tracks from every facet of Streisand's career. DUETS includes partnerships with stars of pop, country, soul, disco, rock, songwriters of a bygone era, and stars of Broadway and opera. It boasts a track from probably the most famous record to bear the same title (Frank Sinatra's DUETS), a live duet with Dorothy herself culled from a 1963 episode of the Judy Garland Show, and the underappreciated mellow-cool "Guilty" with Bee Gee Barry Gibb.
Number One hits with Neil Diamond and Donna Summer sit alongside less remembered alliances with Celine Dion and Kim Carnes. There's even a track on which Barbra doubles up with herself. Most importantly to fans and collectors alike, DUETS features two new tracks, a fetching, modern Disney-esque torch song with Barry Manilow ("I Won't Be The One To Let Go") and a pitch perfect pairing with rising opera-pop star Josh Groban (the inspirational "All I Know ...

| | Mariah Carey Glitter CD (2001) Bonus Track; Japan
Vivir album
$36.95 Looking to go down the vocal-diva-becomes-movie-star path blazed by Diana Ross, Madonna, and Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey teamed with Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis to executive produce the soundtrack to her film debut. Keeping with her character Billie, a struggling 1980s singer trying to break into the biz via the club scene, GLITTER has a handful of vintage dance covers given a modern twist. Chief among these interpretations are a vintage electro-funk reading of Cherrelle's "I Didn't Mean to Turn You On" and a hip-shaking version of the underground classic "Funkin' for Jamaica," renamed "Don't Stop (Funkin' for Jamaica)," that features Mystikal's rough-neck rapping. Mariah also represents her love of hip-hop with a groove-heavy remake of "Last Night a D.J. Saved My Life" featuring Busta Rhymes, Fabulous, and DJ Clue.
Elsewhere, Billie's real-life alter ego rips through ...
