Sweet! A friend gave me this CD and I'm just playing it. I had to write. This is singing. Sounds like a lot of people are in her corner. The Steven Ford songs are out of this world, but I'm partial to anything Richard Smallwood does. "All My Help" is a blessing all by itself. I've always enjoyed the songs she leads with Richard Smallwood and Vision. "Hail or High Water" is my favorite so far, though. Buy it. Gospel's Vanessa Williams Has The Right Stuff, Too! I stumbled upon this project, and am so glad I did. I was sure it was new, but I've missed it for over a year. Richard Smallwood's Vision soloist Vanessa Williams has an A-list of producers, musicians, and singers assisting in bringing her voice to the forefront. Highlights of the project are the Smallwood kissed "All My Help", the spectacular worship tune "Bow Down", written by Philadelphia's Steven Ford, and the urban "Hail Or High Water" -a timely moving, song in today's global climate. Williams serves up her own impressive background vocals on several cuts. I checked the credits. Why she sings in Smallwood's alto section is a mystery, but the CD does a good job of allowing her to explore her range and deliver warm, powerful, and heartfelt praise. Her articulate phrasing is refreshing. She even does a sweet job on the funky "Think Again" which includes a brief rap from super producer J.Moss. It's a fun and uplifting song. Even Fred Hammond's upbeat tunes, with Radical for Christ give her room to stretch. The R&B inspired "Hiding Place" featuring BGV's by Darwin Hobbs absolutely displays Williams soulful versatility. This CD is definitely a sleeper. Submitted by a reviewer (Philadelphia, PA) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo
