Crimson Idol
$15.65 The release of 2009's ENDGAME brings with it a startling realization: if first-generation thrash metal fans had been polled about which of the genre's "Big Four" -- Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, and Megadeth -- would prove to be the most resilient and consistently prolific over the next quarter century, the only sure-fire consensus would probably have been "well, anyone but Megadeth!" And yet, 12 studio albums and 150-plus songs later -- more than any of the other three have managed -- that's exactly what's come to pass. The group's second release for Roadrunner, whose title apparently refers to "coming full circle" rather than any sort of goodbye, finds the latest iteration of Megadeth-- debuting new guitarist Chris Broderick(ex-Nevermore, Jag Panzer)--working primarily within their technical thrash comfort zone (think PEACE SELLS through RUST IN PEACE), with only a few latter-day elements and rare experimental diversions. As such, deceptively simple guitar-shredding master classes like "This Day We Fight!," "1,320" (surprisingly, ...
| | Ozzy Osbourne No More Tears CD (1991) Bonus Tracks; Remastered
Crimson Idol
$8.49 Digitally remastered by Stephen Marcussen (Marcussen Mastering).
After an extended bout with alcoholism and drug addiction, Ozzy Osbourne emerged clean and sober for the recording of 1991's NO MORE TEARS, one of his most successful solo albums ever. Soon after the album's release, Ozzy stated publicly that the album's supporting tour would be his last, and dubbed the outing "No More Tours." As it turned out, the tour was far from Ozzy's last. Ozzy is joined by guitarist Zakk Wylde, drummer Randy Castillo, while original Ozzy solo member Bob Daisley and newcomer Mike Inez (who eventually became a member of Alice in Chains) switch off on bass.
Renowned metal producer Duane Baron helped Ozzy achieve a rocking and heavy sound throughout, as Motorhead's Lemmy Kilmeister contributed to the writing of several songs. Several videos for songs received extensive airplay on MTV's ...
| | Alice In Chains Dirt CD (1992)
Crimson Idol
$6.75 Brutal and hard but exciting and surprisingly melodic, DIRT made Alice In Chains national stars in 1992 after being around the Seattle alternative rock scene for many years. They produce a blindingly together sound, with the bass of Mike Starr able to switch between following the bass drum beat and cloning Jerry Cantrell's ...

Crimson Idol
$10.69 During the late '90s, it seemed like prog rock had finally achieved extinction. But fast forward ten years later and the genre was thriving once more - as evidenced by the arrival of such groups as Astra and their 2009 full-length debut, THE WEIRDING (which includes some very Roger Dean-inspired cover artwork). Hailing from an area not exactly known for spawning prog goliaths ...

| | Phil Hammon Over My Head CD (2007)
Crimson Idol
$11.39 Phil Hammon is a singer/songwriter exploring everyday life with a musical and humorous twist. With three CD's entitled "The Librarian's Nightmare", "Frankenstein Baby" and his BRAND NEW REALEASE “Over My Head” it is apparent that Phil likes to have fun with his music. Whether dealing with issues of national concern, good/bad relationships or personal flaws, Phil always maintains a sense of humor. With a tendency to poke fun at his own life, directly, he tries to show people it is okay to laugh at one’s self too. The goal is to lighten the load we all bear, emotionally and physically, through stress. Life is too short to be wound up like a spring and it is wonderful when people use music to help them unwind. However, don't be surprised if Weird Al is not what you get with Phil Hammon music. Actually, the music on his CDs has a mature Adult Contemporary/Soft Rock/Pop type of sound with a discerning edge. You might actually think of Phil’s music as the double edge sword cutting into the soft underbelly of the soft pop genre. Always trying to find balance in life Phil also attempts to balance multiple genres into one pleasing format. Phil admits that his new release “Over My Head” is a little darker than his first two releases but he still found good and funny things to write about. This CD will dive through a whole range of emotions, genres and textures but he feels you will enjoy the ride. The CD starts with the upbeat tempos and cool harmonies of “When You Come On My Way”, “Rain On The Range” and the title track “Over My Head”. He moves you smoothly into some power ballads “True” and “San Francisco Bay” and then gives a bit of a rush with “Queen ...
