Prince Valium
$13.95 With most of the album written by guitarists Glenn Tipton and K.K. Downing, the group's identity is as solid as ever. The relentless fury that is drummer Scott Travis kicks off "Machine Man," the band's own "Highway Star." Distorted guitar, reminiscent of the band's TURBO era, highlights "One on One." The passing of Tipton's father and the emptiness he felt is reflected in the ballad "Close To You." Tunes like "Hell is Home" and "Lost And Found" offer familiar metal themes; alienation, individuality, and the difficulty in overcoming adversity. "Metal Messiah" preaches the metal gospel, assuring us that THIS band won't be bringing any DJ's on tour any time soon. DEMOLITION kicks, and will satisfy the hunger of all longtime Priest fans.
After longtime vocalist Rob Halford left the band in 1992, Judas Priest recruited Tim Owens, who (ironically enough) sang in a Priest cover band. The band then released its most brutally heavy album to date. These events inspired the Mark Wahlberg film ROCK STAR, but the band distanced itself from the movie, ...

$6.99 Chris Farley stars as Mike Donnelly, the doltish younger brother of a gubernatorial candidate (Tim Matheson). Mike can't seem to stay out of trouble, thus potentially endangering his brother's chance at winning the election, so campaign aide Steve Dodds (David Spade) is assigned to chaperone him until the election is over. Not realizing that he is biting off more than he can chew, Steve takes Mike to the wilderness of Washington state, where ...

Prince Valium
$12.79 Original score composed by John Frizzell and Damon "Grease" Blackman.
CRADLE 2 THE GRAVE, which features "music from and inspired by" the action film of the same name, is a tough, well-put-together collection of aggressive East Coast hip-hop that perfectly mirrors the gritty urban setting of the movie. The disc opens with a ferocious duo of tracks featuring DMX (who stars in CRADLE TO THE GRAVE with martial arts master Jet Li). "X Gonna Give It To Ya" is classic DMX: all rough, snarling vocals, rock-hard beats, and plenty of barking. "Go To Sleep," a collaborative effort with Eminem, is a brutal, cinematic gangsta track that may shock those only familiar with the rapper's poppier side.
There's also Foxy Brown's "My Life," which chillingly examines hip-hop's blurring of fantasy and reality when it comes to violence, and "What's It All For" by Bazaar Royale, which uses a heavy guitar sample from neo-grunge rockers CKY, recalling Public Enemy's classic early-'90s collaborations with Anthrax. Unlike many soundtrack albums, which appear ...

Prince Valium
$11.39 Principally recorded at Baseline, Quad, Sony Music, and Hit Factory Studios, New York, New York.
For his fourth release Cam'ron enlists the talents of three up-and-comers (Juelz Santana, Freeky Zeekey, and Jimmy Jones) for a colorful and extended foray through New York mores in general and those of their respective 'hoods in Harlem in particular. A typical cut, "Ground Zero," is ostensibly 9/11-related, but closer listening will reveal that it's about that gangsta staple, drugs, the thugs that deal them, and the marks that take them. There are flashes of humor amid the gritty material; "Real Ni***s," with its accompanying skit, neatly skewers the "keeping it real" philosophy, and has a smooth Gamble & Huff sample to boot.
The overall thug-life lyrical slant is leavened with other imaginative samples and arrangements of this ilk, and the double-CD format gives the posse the space to display its comedic skills over the course of several skits. DIPLOMATIC IMMUNITY could easily ...
