The 1982 death of Randy Rhoads was a crushing blow for Ozzy Osbourne--not only did he lose one of the very best rock guitarists of all time, but he lost a dear friend, song collaborator, and a founding member of his solo band. But to Ozzy's credit, he somehow summoned the strength to soldier on. For his first studio album since Randy's death, 1983's BARK AT THE MOON, Osbourne discovered another gifted young player from California, Jake E. Lee. The album was another big hit, and eventually reached platinum certification. The album's accompanying tour, which featured openers Motley Crue, was a success as well.

The album opening title track has become a fan favorite and concert staple over the years, and remains one of Ozzy's most furious rockers. Other highlights include "Rock n' Roll Rebel," as well as the gothic "Centre of Eternity," and a surprisingly gentle, string-laden ballad, "So Tired." And while melody is stressed on such compositions as "You're No Different" and "Waiting for Darkness," other selections like "Now You See It (Now You Don't)" and "Slow Down" have more of a heavy metal sound. Featured as a bonus track on the '95 CD remaster is the rarity "Spiders in the Night."

Digitally remastered by Brian Lee and Bob Ludwig.

5 stars Bark At The Moon 2002
The sound is crisp and clear and it's great to be alive in this new century because of well done albums like this one.

5 stars Great Work.
1983 was a year where so many wonderful rock albums came out. Bark at the Moon is just one of them. The art work was creative, the sound now with up to date technology on a 2002 issued cd is pure and top notch. I remember when I was 13 and got Bark at the Moon on cassette tape. I played it until it wore out.

5 stars A fine remaster
I want to ask Swisherbomb from Kansas, first off, what are you tripping on? That is Jake E. Lee playing so quit lying! It sounds like they might have used different takes on You're No Different, Rock and Roll Rebel and Dentre of Eternity because they have more guitar fillers than I remember, but I could be wrong. A great remastereing for an underrated album!

1 star A Butchered Classic!
I can't beleve Ozz would do this to his records! Zack wylde played Jake E Lee's guitar part which he will never ever match Lee technicaly. The only good thing about this remastered edition is the bonus tracks and I don't think these are the originals. Stick with the digital audio not remastered!

4 stars great
their are mixed reviews for this 2002 remaster of ozzy's original "bark at the moon". i myself am a fan who has never listened to ozzy in the 80's cuz i wasn't born then. i've been an ozzy fan since 2000 and something. i've never heard the original bark at the moon so i can't make any comparisons, but what i've heard on this album is great. Bark at the moon, you're no different, Now you see it (now you don't), Rock and roll rebel, Centre of eternity, So tired and slow down are all great songs. and i really enjoyed one up the b-sides. so just remember that this review is coming from a person who's pretty new to ozzy and hasn't listened to any of his albums before the 2002 remastering. this album rules!

Also available in a 3-pack with BARK AT THE MOON and THE ULTIMATE SIN. Digitally remastered by Stephen Marcussen (Marcussen Mastering). Released three years after his departure from Black Sabbath, DIARY is Ozzy's second solo album. A true metal masterpiece, the record features Randy Rhoads (previously in Quiet Riot). DIARY and its successors showed that Ozzy could not only make it on his own, but exceed his former bandmates in popularity. "Over The Mountain" rumbles in and features the often imitated-never duplicated soloing of Randy Rhoads. The man is arguably the most influential guitarist in heavy rock besides Eddie Van Halen. "Flying High Again" follows, and is Ozzy's ode to non-stop partying. "Tonight" is a wonderful ...

CD $7.59  3.9 stars Top 100 Audio Samples
Digitally remastered by Brian Lee and Bob Ludwig (Gateway Mastering Studios, Inc.). Although Ozzy Osbourne received enormous commercial success with 1986's THE ULTIMATE SIN, his detour into glam metal proved unsatisfying for both Osbourne and his fans. Osbourne spent most of 1987 readying his postponed live album with Randy Rhoads for release, TRIBUTE, and pondering his future musical direction. He elected to return to the kind of music that got him where he was in the first place--loud, unapologetic heavy metal. He also decided to replace guitarist Jake E. Lee with a young newcomer from New Jersey, Zakk Wylde, for 1989's NO REST FOR THE WICKED. Wylde had been a lifelong Ozzy/Sabbath fan, and resembled Randy Rhoads both in appearance and in playing style. While the album is not on par with such past classics as BLIZZARD OF ...

Let us all be thankful that Ozzy's retirement didn't stick. It supposedly lasted for three days, after which he got bored and started working on this project. Heavy, riff-intensive tunes, progressive song structures and a little psychedelia give OZZMOSIS a definite Sabbath flavor. Ozzy must have been in touch with whatever inspired early classics like PARANOID and MASTERS OF REALITY. Witness the extremely chunky "Thunder Underground," which can stand up next ...

Bark At The Moon
CD $10.15
Real Space Noise reunites Ichor and Laboratory X members Chad Blinman (programming/voices) and Steve Ashburn (keyboards/guitars).As with their previous projects, the directive of Real Space Noise is to create a complex architecture of pop-oriented songwriting, synthesizer-and-guitar-driven instrumentation, insightful lyrics, and certain characteristics of retro-styled space rock. The result evokes aspects of modern rock and electronica, 70s/80s "new wave" and "no wave" musics, and vintage science fiction soundtracks. These elements, combined with Ashburn and Blinman's peculiar writing and arranging style, fuse into something strangely familiar - yet difficult to categorize.Blinman, a studio veteran whose production and engineering credits range from Face to Face, The Get Up Kids, Viva Death and Senses Fail, to Faith and the Muse and German industrial giant Das Ich, to the programming/production collective The Legion of Doom (whose mashups and remixes are the stuff of internet legend), brings his unusual recording style to all of Real Space Noise's output. The first full-length release from Real Space Noise is the album Radio Method, produced by Blinman and Ashburn at The Eye Socket (Blinman's Venice, California recording ...
