A country influence (via pedal steel) creeps into the arrangements on Old Dan's Records. A drummer is also included throughout, making this a much more contemporary-sounding album, as Gordon Lightfoot began to move away from his folk influences and into the pop/rock field. Sure, there still are the folk songs, such as "That Same Old Obsession," but this album was the seed planted that would flower in upcoming releases. A pivotal point in Lightfoot's career. ~ James Chrispell

Great Gordon Lightfoot!!!!! Gordon has great songwriting abilities as any fan will know. Another great collection of songwriting. Submitted by jejr9 (Irvine) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo 1 of 1 found this helpful.
Catching Up With Gord I love Gordon Lightfoot's older material. "Old Dan's Records" was one I was missing. Not my favorite album of Gord's 70s material, but a really strong collection of songs from his most prolific recording period, once again featuring Red Shea and Terry Clements on guitars. Gord, Red and Terry were without peer for acoustic perfection from this era. Submitted by Erwin (Knoxville, TN) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo 1 of 2 found this helpful.
Gordon's Best I have been enjoying Gordon Lightfoot's music for over three decades and this particular album is one of my favourites. Since receiving it here in Australia several weeks ago, the CD has not had a rest. For years I have looked in shops jere in Australia for this album and when I found it at CD Universe - I couldn't believe it!
Long live the prince of folk! Submitted by a reviewer (Australia) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo
