$8.99 The finest example of perfect disco pop, and a record that should be prescribed to musical snobs and manic depressives. The album is a true ambassador of what pop music can be. Jackson whoops and dances through a suite of unforgettable melodies that should be danced to with a smile on your face. Each track offers at least one musical hook, whether it is the beauty of 'Human Nature' (who can resist ...

| | Katatonia Night Is The New Day CD (2009)
Return album
$14.04 The latest album from Swedish doom rockers Katatonia, their first studio effort since 2006, is as moody and beautiful as their other latter-day work. The group's career can be marked in two stages based on the condition of singer Jonas Renske's vocal cords -- basically, after the band's first two albums, he developed health problems that prevented him from performing harsh death growls, and ever since the band has moved in an increasingly melodic direction, even covering songs by Will Oldham and Jeff Buckley. It's unsurprising to learn that Opeth's Mikael Ĺkerfeldt helped out by performing the harsh vocals on Katatonia's Brave Murder Day album and Sounds of Decay EP in 1996 and 1997, since Night ...
| | 50 Cent Before I Self-Destruct CDs (2007) With DVD
Return CD music
$11.19 Released without the usual flurry of hype, Before I Self Destruct fulfills 50 Cent's contractual obligation to the Interscope label. It also doubles as a throwback album, returning the rapper to the hunger and hatred of his early mixtapes while skillfully recasting him as a wannabe upstart. That is, for the most part. The four radio-friendly bedroom numbers that conclude the album are out of place but fairly good to dime-piece beautiful, with the best being the Ne-Yo showcase "Baby by Me" ("Have a baby by me, baby/Be a millionaire"). As pleasing as these final numbers are, if you leave the room after the macho bruiser "I Got Swag" ("I'm infinitely special/Girl the Lord is gonna bless you/If you do what I tell you to do"), you'll return to a confusingly different album, one that's as glamorous but less vital. The monstrous run of tracks that leads up to this flash and polish can be summed up by 50's "This ain't Tha Carter/It's Sparta!," a witty, deceptive, and brutish line barked over a prime Dr. Dre beat during the great "Death to My Enemies." On the cut, the producer sounds like he's been ...

| | Vigilantes When You Left Me CD (2006)
Return CD music
$9.35 Country Music has changed over the last twenty years. Gone are the days when, from the first few bars of a song, you knew not only the song, but the artist as well. In a day when most call their music “country” while proclaiming they “rock,” the Vigilantes have not forgotten their roots. They remain true to themselves, their music, and the traditions the veterans of country music began. The Vigilantes' music, while unique, is reminiscent of the country-n-western music of Carl Smith, Hank Williams Sr., Faron Young, Lefty Frizzell, Ray Price, etc., when individual artists were very distinctive and entertainment was clean, wholesome, and family oriented. The only criteria The Vigilantes used in selecting material for their shows was that it had to be a "good" song, and one they could make very dance-able. Their formula proved true. And with the collective memories of its members, The Vigilantes' wide musical repertoire was a delight to all! This opened the door to an evening filled with hits like "White Cliffs ...
