The Eagles Don Felder produced this 1983 effort, and he has friends galore pack the proceedings with lots of musicianship, the late Carlos Vega is on drums, as are Joe Vitale, Russ Kunkel and Tris Imboden; fellow latter-day Eagle Timothy B. Schmit provides backing vocals, and there are appearances by Jeff Lorber, Joe Lala, Kenny Loggins, Dave Mason, and Albhy Galuten. The record sounds like "The Heat Is On," Glenn Frey's very '80s-sounding 1984 hit from Beverly Hills Cop. Kenny Loggins co-writes "Never Surrender" with the guitarist, and melodies abound on tracks like "Who Tonight," which has some of the feel of Danny Kirwan and Bob Welch's post-Fleetwood Mac solo work. "Never Surrender" could be "Life in the Fast Lane" redux. Airborne plays like an album that was given to the artist out of respect for his work in the trenches. ~ Joe Viglione

Don Felder Kicks Butt!! If you liked "Heavy Metal" (Takiin' a ride)
then you will also like Haywire & Who Tonight which are all on this cd. I don't know why The Eagles fired Don Felder, but I can honestly say that they screwed themselves. Without Don Felder, it's no longer The Eagles. Submitted by Allen (Hixson, Tn.) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo 2 of 2 found this helpful.
Loved the CD I enjoyed the CD very much. I didn't expect outstanding vocals as Don's forte is amazing guitar work, but it wasn't bad at all.
The Eagles should never have let Don Felder go. He is an extraordinary guitarist who also adds fire, elegance, and charisma to not only his playing but his persona as well.
Had to special-order it and was glad that I did. Submitted by italobeh (Riverside, CA) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo
Too Expensive I bought this CD because I really liked the song "Bad Girls". Unfortunately, the rest of the CD is pretty average. Since it's an import, the cost is pretty high for what you get.
