Water Music's Pure Chill Out features 17 mellow vocal and instrumental electronic tracks, including Moby's "Rushing," Delerium's "Enchanted," Phobos' "Edge of Forever," and Moodswings' "Opium 45." The inclusion of more trip-hop-oriented tracks -- like Julia Messenger's "I Miss You," Heather Nova's "Gloomy Sunday," and Julee Cruise's "The Orbiting Beatnik" -- make this collection better for more mainstream audiences instead of devotees of underground chilled electronica, but Nightmares on Wax's "Stars," Fila Brazilia's "A Zed & 2 L's," and Kruder & Dorfmeister's "Original Bedroom Rockers" contribute a bit of an edge to the album without making it any less listener-friendly. Nitin Sawhney's "Breathing Light" and Baby Mammoth's "I'm Not Joking" are two more highlights from Pure Chill Out, which offers a pleasant, if not revolutionary, set of relaxing electronic music. ~ Heather Phares

The midwest seems like an unlikely place to grow a budding Pop-R&B recording artist, but Chad Sharp is used to not fitting the mold. Not only is the farmland of South Dakota and Minnesota is the last place you would expect to find an artist like this, but he also writes and produces all of his own material."My music is about real events that take place in my life. I may do pop music, but I'm not manufactured," Sharp explains. "I don't think people expect to hear music like mine coming from the Midwest."Sharp's style is a unique blend of his influences that range from 70's R&B to the dance and pop music of today. Sharp is involved in every aspect of his music career. He handles all duties from writing to promotion."I am a true independent artist. I am very much a do-it-yourself type of an artist," Sharp adds. In today's lipsync heavy world of pop music, Sharp also finds a way to set himself apart. He sings live. He says although people expect pop artists to fill stadiums and be plastered all over MTV, he likes to be connected to music fans. "There is nothing better than doing a show at a coffee shop somewhere and seeing the faces and meeting the people," Sharp says. "My shows are me and my keyboard.
