(14 Customer Reviews)
Includes liner notes Peter Guralnick and Ernst Mikael Jorgensen. Commemorating the 25th anniversary of Elvis Presley's death, 30 #1 HITS presents a career-spanning serving of the King's chart-toppers. Dating back to "Heartbreak ... Full DescriptionHotel" (which was inspired by a suicide note printed in the Miami Herald), most of these cuts have become indelibly etched into the fabric of pop culture and each has a unique story behind it. "Love Me Tender" has its origins in the Civil War ballad "Aura Lee," "It's Now Or Never" found Elvis Americanizing the Neapolitan ballad "O Sole Mio," and "Wooden Heart" likewise was converted from a German children's song.
This Memphis native's choice of artists to cover was equally intriguing and includes Hollywood legend Al Jolson ("Are You Lonesome Tonight?"), New Orleans soul shouter Smiley Lewis ("One Night"), blues great Big Mama Thornton ("Hound Dog"), and country titan Hank Snow ("[Now And Then There's] A Fool Such As I"). Further testimony of Presley's long-lasting appeal is the inclusion of the JXL Radio Edit Remix of "A Little Less Conversation," a UK #1 that not only enabled Elvis to have more chart-toppers than The Beatles, but also became a hit in a number of other countries including the United States.

Elvis still rocks
It has been nearly thirty year since the death of genre crossing musician and pop culture giant Elvis Presley. But, fifties and sixties people on a nostalgic trip and young people interested in days gone by needed worry. You can still hear the King at his best in this CD.
Elvis Thirty # Greatest hits (as the title implies) chronicles his bill board record breakers and chart toppers. From his doo-woop hits of the late fifties to his soul and funk hits of the late seventies there is no stone left unturned. Probably compared to the original recordings these shrink, but in an age of Brittany Spears, Eminem and Janet Jackson singing talent is very rare. And, that is something that this couldn’t get rid of. So I would give this four stars. They done alright.

Hi,
1) The company must now make a decision about which way they should go-on to Mordor directly, or to Minas Tirth. Which way do you think they should go, and why?
A: I think that the company should go to Minas Tirth. Going directly to Mordor as a group would be unwise as Frodo is ultimately the one who is to destroy it. If they go the other route they are likely to attract less attention and Frodo will have more of a chance of reaching his destination safely.
2) Why is this such a hard decision, do you think?
A: Everyone has a different idea of what would be a safer route to go. Bomior and Aragorn want to go their own ways for sentimental reasons. Legolas and Gimli have their own ideas of what they feel would be the best way to go. And, Merry, Pippin and Sam simply don’t know what way to go because they have never really been far from the shire before. Ultimately, though, the decision rests with Frodo because he is the one must destroy the Ring.
3) What would YOU choose, and why?
A: As I said, I think that they should go through Minas Tirth. It will attract far less attention then going directly to Mordor. Frodo is the one who must destroy the Ring, and he must go to the heart of Mordor alone. The others just need to help him get to that point. So, they should go through Minas Tirth.

Elvis is still in the building With the exception of, Viva Las Vegas, Baby I Don't Care, Blue Suede Shoes and Blue Moon Kentucky or Kentucky Rain; this compilation covers all the songs I knew and some I didn't know that made him king. This is a must for Elvis fans, and those that picked up the Beatles #1's album. Submitted by a reviewer (Palm Springs, CA - USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
