Eat This album
$14.44 Dream Theater's tenth long-player is about as dense and challenging as any album in the band's discography and emphasizes not only the virtuoso members' stupefying musicianship, but also their most aggressive and thoroughly metallic songwriting tendencies. The sixteen-minute opener "A Nightmare to Remember" quickly establishes this agenda via frequently thrash-paced staccato riffing, some of John Petrucci's most blistering guitar solos ever, and the return of drummer Mike Portnoy's syncopated growls, which provide contrast for singer James LaBrie's soaring melodic elegance. "The Count of Tuscany" is a heady prog-metal magnum opus brimming with more ideas, notes, and time changes over 19 minutes than most bands bother with over a ten album career. In fact, "Whither," a tender ballad and mere babe at five minutes in length, is the album's only concession to commerce. Black Clouds & Silver Linings, for all its abundantly positive qualities and minor but clear distinctions from prior efforts, is still an archetypal Dream Theater album; one that's unlikely to broaden ...
| | Isaac Hayes Hot Buttered Soul CD (1969) Bonus Tracks; Anniversary Edition; Remastered
Eat This CD music
$9.58 This is a hybrid Super Audio CD playable on both regular and Super Audio CD players.
A staff songwriter with the legendary Stax label, Isaac Hayes, with partner David Porter, composed material for many of the company's artists, including Sam And Dave, Carla Thomas and Johnnie Taylor. Frustrated with this backroom role, he began recording in his own right, and with Hot Buttered Soul, redefined the notion of soul music. Although the tracks were lengthy, there was no sense of self-indulgence, each one evolving over sensual rhythms and taut arrangements. Hayes' vocal anticipated the 'rap' genre of Barry White and Millie Jackson without slipping into self-parody, lending an air of sophistication to a highly influential collection.
Digitally remastered by Joe Tarantino.
Additional Tracks
Recorded at Ardent Studios, Memphis, Tennessee and United Sound Systems Studio, Detroit, Michigan in 1969. Includes liner notes by Bill Dahl.

| | Sade - Lovers Live DVD (2001)
Eat This music CDs
$10.39 The sultaness of smooth, soul artist Sade manages to be cool and collected while expressing a message of hot and sultry desire. Critically acclaimed and hugely attended, the concert featured Sade performing songs of her 2001 eponymous album, as well as earlier releases. | | Voivod Infini CD (2009)
Eat This songs
$11.64 Possibly more so than any other prior Voivod release, 2009's INFINITI is all about their late guitarist (and co-founding member) Piggy. Armed with guitar parts he recorded prior to his 2005 passing, the surviving Voivod members subsequently set out to finish off these final tracks. And musically, INFINITI really is a tribute of sorts to Voivod's fallen guitarist, as his playing propels many of the songs throughout the album. Back in the '80s when most metal guitarists were busy shredding away and/or trying to "out thrash" the next guy, Piggy's jazz-oid guitar playing was a breath of fresh air amongst all the standard shredding/noodling going on at the time. And it was an instantly recognizable, signature style he pursued until the very end, as evidenced by such tracks ...
| | Roger Waters - In The Flesh Live DVD (2001)
Eat This album
$9.69 The mastermind of post-Syd Barrett Pink Floyd, Roger Waters mixed psychedelic rock with operatic sensibilities. IN THE FLESH LIVE is a high definition concert film which utilizes the most advanced audiovisual technology. Touring in the United States after a 12 year break, Waters performs dozens of his progressive hits from both his solo and Pink Floyd days, including "Mother," "Welcome to the Machine," "The Bravery of Being Out of Range," and the title track.
This video, taken from Waters' first USA tour in 12 years (1999-2000), was taken from the highly acclaimed "In the Flesh" show that presented, for the first time, a comprehensive overview of Waters music, including early Pink Floyd material, classical compositions, less well-known pieces, as well as the debut of ...
| | John Mclaughlin Five Peace Band Live CDs (2009)
Eat This CD music
$16.89 Though their paths crossed on the Miles Davis classic IN A SILENT WAY and on Larry Coryell's SPACES, this disc is the first actual collaboration between pianist Chick Corea and guitarist John McLaughlin. The Five Peace Band truly is a super-group, the other members being the versatile bassist Christian McBride (acoustic and electric), saxophonist Kenny Garrett (a Miles alumnus too), and fusion drumming ace Vinnie Colaiuta. LIVE features cozy, intimate Corea-McLaughlin duets, sizzling electric playing, and enchanting acoustic passages. They pay tribute to Miles with a medley of "In A Silent Way" and "It's about That Time," with yet another Miles grad Herbie Hancock guesting on keyboards. And there's even a tasty rendition of a bebop classic, Jackie McLean's "Dr. Jackle." Aside from a righteous meeting-of-the-minds, ...
