The last Stones studio album of the '60s finds the band, for perhaps the first time, accurately reflecting the spirit of its age. The erstwhile bad boy outsiders of rock now found themselves firmly in the center of the social and political post-'68 ...    Full Description

5 stars Let It Bleed, Forever And Ever, Amen.
This album is a masterpiece, it's that simple. The Stones were "inspired" when they wrote and recorded it. The first cut, "Gimmie Shelter", is one of the GREATEST rock songs ever made. The last cut, "You Can't Always Get What You Want", is one of the greatest power ballads ever made. It describes the turmoil of the 60's, personal and political, and the choir dramatically illuminates the lyrical content. It is just breathtaking. In between these 2 monumental cuts, you will find such gems as: "Love In Vain" - lowdown blues with fantastic interplay between Mick's flawless vocal and the guitarists' licks "Country Honk" - the title says it all "Midnight Rambler" - the seamy side of criminal life, given the full sleaze treatment "Monkey Man" - awesome lyrics, blistering guitars, great tinkly piano. As far as the title cut is concerned, "Let It Bleed" is ABSOLUTELY the most deliciously NASTY counterculture song I have ever heard IN MY LIFE! Look, if you like classic rock and you somehow don't have this album, get it NOW. If you have a worn-out LP, like I did, buy the remastered CD. It's worth it. That's it! I can say no more.

5 stars Stones Do It Again
The Stones are the best and this early work "let it" come through. The songs are varied in structure and tempo with all the great tonal qualities that the old stuff used to have. This cd has been re-mastered, too.

5 stars Basic instinct blues-rock
I first bought this stones' lp when i was just fifteen years old, and it really conditioned my music preferences. It still gives me shivers when I'm listening to it. Mick Tailor's tremendous guitar breaks in midnight rambler make you understand that he's a deep and talented guitar-hero and Stones did lost very much when this artist left the group. The feeling is true and strong, Keith and the two Micks at their best. Get yer ya ya's out, USA 1969 tour was the crowning of this fabulous period.

5 stars Awesome
The remastering has definitely helped the overall sound of this album. Mick's vocals are clearer, the bass is more pronounced and Keith's guitars sound as if he's in the room with you. A must buy for any Stones fan.

This is a Hybrid Super Audio CD playable on both Super Audio and regular CD players. It's difficult for American listeners to remember this, but like the recordings of the Beatles and nearly all other British groups of the '60s, the Rolling Stones' first several albums did not make it across the Atlantic in one piece. Prior to ABKCO's comprehensive 2002 reissue program, the US versions of the Stones' early albums were the de facto standards on CD, but particularly in the case of 1966's AFTERMATH, the UK album was very different. The track lineup is shuffled and expanded to create a much different mood. "Paint It Black" is gone, replaced as the opening track by the snotty social commentary of "Mother's Little Helper," which--when followed by "Stupid Girl," "Lady Jane," "Under My Thumb," and "Dontcha Bother Me"--is like a pentathlon of punky misogyny capped by the grinding blues jam "Goin' Home." Side Two is more emotionally varied but just as musically far-reaching, adding the poppy ...

Recorded live at Madison Square Garden, New York, New York on November 27-28, 1969. Returning to the American concert scene after a three-year layoff, the Rolling Stones recorded GET YER YA-YA'S OUT! during a triumphant two-date stand at Madison Square Garden in late November 1969 that found B.B. King and Ike & Tina Turner opening for them. Having amassed an impressive recorded output during their three years away from touring, the Stones peppered their sets with hits, including "Honky Tonk Women," "Jumpin' Jack Flash," and "Street Fighting Man." Tipping their collective hats to Chuck Berry, the band also included covers of "Carol" and "Little Queenie" alongside more blues-influenced numbers such as "Stray Cat Blues" and "Love In Vain." Having been a member of John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, new guitarist Mick Taylor parlayed his experience into some impressive slide guitar work. The pièce-de-resistance of what is arguably the best live Rolling Stones recording is the eight-minute-plus ...

CD $10.39  4.2 stars Top 500 Audio Samples
12 X 5 includes material recorded by the Stones at Chicago's Chess Studios (home to the band's idols Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf) on their first US tour. Though this document of the group's early R&B period kicks off with a couple of covers from unsurprising sources (Chuck Berry's "Around and Around,") Mick and Keith waste little time in displaying their own compositional acumen. The acoustic-based, bluesy "Good Times, Bad Times" harkens back to even earlier, more seminal Stones influences than Berry, as does the instrumental "2120 South Michigan Avenue," where the blues-obsessed ...

Let It Bleed album
CD $10.39  3.9 stars Top 500 Audio Samples
Part druggy experiment, part musical rivalry with the Fab Four, and a total anomaly in the Rolling Stones' catalogue, THEIR SATANIC MAJESTIES REQUEST contains at least three trippy classics in "Citadel," "She's a Rainbow," and "2000 Light Years From Home." That it also contains an extensive sample of Bill Wyman snoring and an eight-minute stoned jam that begins with the timeless phrase "Where's that ...
