It's a testament to the conviction of Breaking Benjamin that two of its members quit another band already signed to a major label to join what was, commercially, much less of a sure thing. SATURATE's success proved them right, though. A melting pot of post-grunge riffs, nu-metal power, and classic rock accessibility, Breaking Benjamin offers something for hard rock fans of all stripes. Melodic choruses and signature riffs rub shoulders with screeching, from-the-gut vocals and amps-on-11 guitar firestorms. By paying homage to all their influences simultaneously, the band seems to have come up with a hard-hitting sound whose whole is greater than the sum of its already-impressive parts on BB's chart-bound debut album SATURATE.
Contains an untitled hidden track following "Shallow Bay".
Jeremy Hummel (drums, background vocals).
Prod.By Ulrich Wild (Deftones, Powerman 5000,Static X)
Recorded at Larrabee East, Los Angeles, California and Royaltone Studios, North Hollywood, California.
Breaking Benjamin: Ben Burnley (vocals, guitar); Aaron Fink (guitar, background vocals); Mark James Klepaski (bass, background vocals);

This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files.CMJ (9/30/02) - "...[This] debut album offers heavy, yet melodic guitars over thick, bottom heavy bass and pummeling drums....Breaking Benjamin could soon be breaking big..."

Average Rating: (4.7 out of 5 stars) List All 29 Reviews My Polyamorous Friend... ...He got me in a mess of trouble again! This is one of the greatest albums I've ever listened to. I just bought it today, and I'm on Shallow Bay for the 3rd time. Better than "We Are Not Alone," but I'm not sure if it beats "Phobia." I DON'T CARE, though. All three of their albums are excellent, and I hope they make many more. I don't judge artists on which album is their best, but that ALL of them are GREAT! This band is a prime example of that. They mix hard rock, soft rock, and metal together on one, brilliant record. Standout tracks- Wish I May, Polyamorous, Next to Nothing, Home, Sugarcoat, Shallow Bay, and Forever (bonus track). This IS the best band out there right now, like it or not. ROCK ON BOYS!!! Submitted by THE immortal Ocelot- expert reviewer (Harrisburg, PA) Was This Review Helpful? Typical Breaking Benjamin I LOVE this CD! You would NEVER expect that voice to come out of the lead singer NOR such a heavy jam from the band! It is such an awesome CD as is "We Are Not Alone". They know how to JAM! They start out real cool then OPEN IT UP! I LOVE IT! Submitted by jdallen_martin (Houston, Texas) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

It grows on you. At first I thought, Korn Lite, but after a few spins I found that it has just the right combination of melody and good old fashion, pissed off, rock and roll!
You can't lose with this one! Submitted by dramadery1 (Denver, CO, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
