Unsurprisingly, this defensive attitude continues to pop up whether it's in the line "I'll live my life the way I feel/ No matter what I'll keep it real" punctuating "Try It On My Own" or the stand-by-my man Bobby Brown duet "My Love." Even Houston's cover of '70s schmaltzfest "You Light Up My Life" seems like an attempt to capture lightning in a bottle a la "I Will Always Love You." JUST WHITNEY proved to be a nice rebound for a massive talent whose recent public attention revolved far too little around her God-given musical talent.
Scads of personal drama may have been central to Whitney Houston's life subsequent to the release of 1998's MY LOVE IS YOUR LOVE, but 2002's triumphant JUST WHITNEY proved to be a nice comeback. Surrounded by a top-shelf talent pool of producers including Kevin "She'kspere" Briggs, Babyface, and Missy Elliott, Houston struck gold. Highlights range from the playful "One of Those Days" (featuring a sample of The Isley Brothers' "Between the Sheets") and juicy Missy-penned-and-produced slow jam "Things You Say" (featuring harmonies by Tweet) to the defiant "Unashamed".

Whitney is exteremely talented. However, this certainly not her best work. The only outstanding track on this album is "Tell Me No." Please understand I am not saying you should not but this cd. Unfortunately, I do beleive this cd is best if left for her most loyal fans to purchase.

Whittney Tells Everyone Like it is!!!
Maybe this album will shut everyone up about her personal life! In this album I believe she's telling everyone she's human just like you and me and she doesn't have to explain why she's still with Bobby Brown. They've been together 10 yrs and he and she aren't going anywhere - go on girlfriend -:)

this one of the best comeback albums I've heard ina while. However it lacks some vocal ablility of the "Original Whitney" it still provided enough for us to say she's back. Inspiring us with "Tell Me no." and leaving us with a beautiful rendition of " You light up my life." my hats off to you "Only Whitney

Fans, the woman has a very good voice. The personal problems that she has nothing to do with her music. She music for the most part is very good. The opinions about her marriage and other things are a separate issues. The fans should not mix personal and business together. Whatever is going on in Whitney's life is her business and not mine. Let's keep it that way.

Back Off
Whitney has more talent in her pinky than most artists have in their entire bodies. Today most female artists are selling their six packs, breasts, thighs and buts but not their voices. Whitney’s voice is beyond comparison and she will always be treasured as one of the greats. Whitney has what some female artists’ lack “TALENT.” Just Whitney is one of her greatest releases to date. The CD has great depth, spunk, and personality. Criticism of the album is not based upon her talent as much as it is her personal life which is tragic because had Whitney released several tracks on this album say 3-5 years ago I’m willing to bet it would have gone double platinum.
