| | Queen Platinum Collection, Vol. 1-3 CD Queen Discography of CDs
(17 Customer Reviews)
Recorded between 1974 & 1997. Includes liner notes by Jim Jenkins, Jacky Smith, Andy Davis, Phil Symes.
With Queen officially enshrined in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame, Hollywood Records reintroduces the band yet again with the release of GREATEST HITS I, II & III. While Volumes I and II are full of Queen classics you already know by heart, the third cobbles together odds and sods from the far corners of Queen's canon along with solo cuts from Freddie Mercury and Brian May.
Opening with the operatic rock classic "Bohemian Rhapsody," it's easy to hear not only how this British quartet achieved the kind of global acclaim that ensured they'd be enshrined alongside the likes of the Beatles and Led Zeppelin. When they weren't dabbling in playful '50s-flavored rock & roll ("Crazy Little Thing Called Love"), catchy glam ("Killer Queen"), or hard-edged funk ("Another One Bites The Dust"), Queen was capable of delivering heartfelt love letters ("You're My Best Friend"). The band's '80s output is equally intriguing, ranging from the hard-hitting "Headlong" to duets with David Bowie ("Under Pressure") and soaring movie anthems ("One Vision"). The third volume features more movie themes ("Princes Of The Universe"), Freddie Mercury covering The Platters ("The Great Pretender"), and cameos by contemporary artists like Wyclef Jean, George Michael and Elton John.
All tracks have been digitally remastered.
Producers include: Queen, David Bowie, Freddie Mercury, David Richards, Mike Moran.
Queen: Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor, John Deacon.
Additional personnel: Elton John, George Michael, David Bowie, Montserrat Caballe (vocals); Wyclef Jean, Pras (rap vocals).

| Average Rating: (4.2 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Best of Queen It sure is the best collective record of Queens outsanding hits. A must for any true collector and a must if you have got none of their individual cd's as yet. This compilation could be all you need to survive this life. Without Queen life would be so much sadder.
Highly recommended. Submitted by mickforsdick (essex, UK) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.
QUEEN STILL RULES This box set is only part of the best of Queen for you devoted fans. You can't imagine how many years these CD's span. They're all classic tunes. Sit and listen to the entire set and you believe Freddie still lives. Highly recommend for any Queen fan. Submitted by mprassinos (Parsippany, NJ) Was This Review Helpful? All the Hits...plus a ton of filler crap The first of Queen's Greatest Hits covered all the definitive Queen songs from the 70's. Queen's Greatest Hits II added under pressure and a few other great songs from the 80's and even the 90's "Innuendo" but left off the title song from the "Highlander" film "Prices of the Universe." Basically, this third set was an excuse to add on the "Princes of the Universe" song due to the cult popularity of the "Highlander" TV series. There is n interesting remake of "Under Pressure" with Wyclef Jean. Basically the third CD is an homage to the late great Freddie Mercury from various artists and studio mixers. The songs tha are great on this CD warrant a "5" but the filler crap drastically slaps it down to a "3". It would not surprise me if some clever record executive whittles out all the crap and produces a definitive Queens Greatest hits which only consists of hits and not necessarily what the record execs or even the band thought was a hit. Great music Freddie's voice is the best, It takes you back to the 70's without the crackling sounds from the old LP's. There the Greatest band ever. Submitted by dmandrig (St.Petersburg, Florida USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Great CD with most of the songs I wanted Great CD with most of the songs I wanted. Great deal, but could do better with S/H. One small problem though, the case in which the cds came was a little broken (due to shipping?). Would buy again from CD universe.
