This is a selection from the 4-CD box THE GENIUS OF THE ELECTRIC GUITAR.
Recorded in 1939-1940. Includes liner notes by Les Paul and Brad Tolinski.
This eight-track sampler from Columbia's The Genius of the Electric Guitar box set offers a slice of the box to people who may be unsure of its overall worth. It is far from a definitive sampler, though. If you're a big Christian fan, buy the box; otherwise, the original (and still-available) Genius of the Electric Guitar is still the best way to go. ~ Jim Smith

When modern guitar was born I think Charlie Christian has been the first modern guitarist of the new era. After listnening to it, you'll see that even all the greats have taken something from him, but he will remain the first. It's just a pity this record is so short, and the box set comes in that odd digipack style. Submitted by zl177 (BAGNOLO IN PIANO,RE,ITALY) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo
Too short! Charlie Christian's solos are great - its amazing how modern he sounded in that era. However, there are too few songs!! This CD seems like a rip off - get one with more tracks if you can. Submitted by RJ (Toronto) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo
