Way Of The Dead CD music
$11.45 Colonel Claypool's Bucket of Bernie Brains: Les Claypool (vocals, bass guitar); Buckethead (guitar); Brain (drums); Bernie Worrell.
Even hardcore Primus fans often wondered what vocalist/virtuoso bassist Les Claypool would sound like outside the confines of that band. Claypool first answered the question with all-star band Oysterhead, and then with this album, which pairs him with enigmatic guitarist Buckethead, P-Funk keyboardist Bernie Worrell, and former Primus drummer Brain. (These three have also been involved in the avant-garde supergroup Praxis.)
Of course, with musicians of this diversity and caliber, THE BIG EYEBALL IN THE SKY draws liberally from funk, speed metal, jazz fusion, hip-hop, dance, reggae, and punk without regard for boundaries or categories. Surprisingly, considering that Colonel Claypool's Bucket of Bernie Brains began ...
| | Stevie Ray Vaughan And Double Trouble - Live At Montreux 1982 & 1985 DVDs (2004)
Way Of The Dead music CDs
$11.19 Three years is a long time in the music industry, as these incredible concerts indefatigably prove. The first takes place in 1982. A young bluseman takes to the stage at the Montreux Festival, ably backed by a highly competent band. The cynical crowd doesn't take kindly to the virtuoso skills presented for their listening pleasure, and the beleaguered future star is booed and heckled throughout. Fortunately the worldly wise figure of Jackson Browne has his head turned at the concert, and proceeds to offer the flowering talents of Stevie Ray Vaughan some precious studio time. Fast forward three years to 1985, and Vaughan returns to the festival. Now the headline act, the ultimate vindication for Stevie is provided by a crowd which hangs on his every movement. Both concerts are presenting here, offering a tremendous way to experience Vaughan's music and rise to fame, as well as offering precious hope for any aspiring artists who meet with a frosty reception from a hostile crowd.
By the summer of 1982, Stevie Ray Vaughan, desparately searching for his big break, was asked to play "Blues Night" at the annual Montreux Jazz Festival in Montreux, Switzerland. Stevie put on a fiery performance - full of future SRV classics like "Pride And Joy" and "Love Struck Baby." ...

| | Queensryche Q2K CD (1999) (Import) Japan
Way Of The Dead music CDs
$40.75 Expectations ran high for Queensryche to deliver a follow-up to HEAR IN THE NOW FRONTIER that would strike the delicate balance of pleasing long-time fans without reverting to an '80s metal sound. The band stood on shaky musical ground following the departure of Chris DeGarmo, and band members considered outside projects. With new guitarist/producer Kelly Gray, Queensryche regrouped to release Q2K, their first album for Atlantic Records.
In a move that in some ways mirrors THE WARNING, the album begins with a throwaway track ("Falling Down"). However, once the listener steps on "Sacred Ground" it's apparent that the band still has some magic stowed away. While Q2K doesn't match the production value of PROMISED LAND or EMPIRE, sonically it towers over HEAR IN THE NOW FRONTIER. "Liquid Sky" and "The Right Side Of My Mind" strike ...
