A little disappointing Songs like 'Digale' and 'Ave Maria' keep things going and don't disappoint but, overall, this album is not quite as good as I thought it would be, a little too much similarity in the songs and it gets a little boring. But, as I said, the first two songs are great! Submitted by caroline.tiernan (Dublin, Ireland) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

| | Juanes Un Dia Normal CD (2002)
Corazon Latino album
$6.69 "A Dios Le Pido" won the 2002 Latin Grammy Award for Best Rock Song.
UN DIA NORMAL won the 2003 Latin Grammy Awards for Album Of The Year and won for Best Rock Solo Vocal Album. "Es Por Ti" won for Record Of The Year and for Song Of The Year. "Mala Gente" won for Best Rock Song. The album was also nominated for Best Latin Rock/Alternative Album.
Refusing to play the Latin pop crossover game, Colombian singer-songwriter Juanes returns with UN DIA NORMAL, a second solo album sung entirely in Spanish that manages to kick the idea of sophomore jinx square in the jewels. Teaming up with Rock En Espanol production kingpin Gustavo Santaolalla, the former Ekhymosis frontman delivers a pleasing fusion of folkloric and contemporary pop-rock nuances ranging from the jangly nugget "Desde Que Despierto" and rock steady cadence of "La Paga" to the crisply delivered vallenato "Luna." Other highlights include the crisp shuffle "Luna," bossa-nova-kissed "Es Por Ti," and infectious cumbia-infused "A Dios Le Pido" (which earned Juanes a Latin Grammy for Best Rock Song).
About the only concession Juanes makes to courting crossover success is "Fotografia," a ballad with Nelly Furtado, a native Portuguese ...
| | David Bisbal Buleria CD (2004)
Corazon Latino CD music
$11.49 Paul Simon has argued that an artist's debut album is often his or her best because when artists have a lot on their minds and finally get a chance to record, the results can be unusually inspired. Simon's theory would explain the dreaded sophomore curse; second albums, in some cases, are disappointing because the artist has already used up many of his or her best ideas. Of course, there have been numerous sophomore albums that were anything but disappointing -- Led Zeppelin II, Madonna's Like a Virgin, Ice-T's Power -- and David Bisbal shows no signs of a sophomore slump on his second album, Bulería. The Spanish pop singer showed considerable promise on his first album, Corazón Latino, and is equally triumphant on this follow-up. Some of the credit for Bulería's excellence goes to the prolific Kike Santander, who produced this 2004 release and wrote or co-wrote many of the songs. Thanks to Santander, Bisbal has a lot of great material to ...

He is renowned for his extensive repertoire of over 2,500 traditional and contemporary folksongs. His highly entertaining performances at festivals and concert halls across the United States have won him fans of all ages. A masterful entertainer who never fails to get his audience singing along, he has distinguished himself as one of the great interpreters of American folktales and folksongs.Miller is a familiar face to hundreds of thousands of parents and children who have attended his acclaimed “Singing Through History†folk music programs. These programs aid in the development of cultural and historical literacy, emphasizing the importance of history as a story well told.A native of Northern California, Adam grew up a few blocks from historic Cannery Row on the Monterey Bay. As a child he listened to the recordings of Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Oscar Brand, Cisco Houston, Marais and Miranda, and the Weavers. When he was eleven years old, his parents took him to hear folksinger Sam Hinton perform at the Grange Hall in Big Sur. He credits Hinton as his mentor and his greatest inspiration. Hinton says of Miller, "Since I've stopped performing, I've thought more and more highly of you and your work, and I feel that the traditions I have followed are in good hands."A nationally recognized presenter ...

| | Linda Ronstadt Don't Cry Now CD (1973) (Import) Collector's Edition; Omr
Corazon Latino album
$27.45 This major 1973 release finds Ronstadt still solidifying her position as rock's premier interpretive singer. The country rock of the Eagles and producer/writer John David Souther remains the idiom, but Ronstadt has the voice, style and background to deliver this commercialized roots music with little loss of authenticity. Unlike Bonnie Raitt or Janis, she is relatively free of blues or R&B influence. In another singer this might seem a liability, but it allows Rondstadt unusually direct access to the emotional wellsprings of the country and folk which defined post-sixties rock music. Whether on the Eagles' own "Desperado," the country warhorse "Silver Threads And Golden Needles" or Neil Young's "I Believe In You," Rondstadt's powerful ...
