In the photos accompanying MELT, the members of Rascal Flatts are styled in the manner of typical grunge rockers, complete with goatees, ripped jeans, worn leather jackets, and dour grimaces. Fans need not be worried, though--the group still delivers super-shiny Nashville pop, albeit with a slightly more "adult" lyrical edge than on their self-titled debut. This time around, the songs seem custom-tailored not for teens, but for the George Bush Jr. generation--a young, sophisticated, globally aware, rural middle class more apt to be chatting on-line than downing Lone Stars in the back of a pickup.
In other words, the band makes a concerted effort to match its sublimely catchy melodies with down-to-earth tales of modern grown-up life. Though MELT's highly polished jingle-esqe production occasionally obscures the songs' emotional impact, the resulting album succeeds on it's own terms; it's as perfectly poppy and slick as the best of Britney Spears, yet significantly more substantial.

Money Well Spent!! The sophomore CD from Rascal Flatts is a contemporary person's version of what country music SHOULD be. From the #1 hit, "These Days" to soon to be hits, such as "Too Good Is True", "Mayberry", and the country power ballad, "Melt". This trio of country boys prove once again they have talent to spare. The songs have catchy beats and sincere lyrics to accompany them. This is definately a CD that you will listen to from beginning to end, over and over again! One of my Favorites I am relatively new to the "country" world, but already, I have a great album. A good mix of slower beats with a few faster tone songs makes a good variety. I definatly recommend this as well as their other album. Submitted by a reviewer (Pisa, Italy) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo 3 of 5 found this helpful.

they are a classic.. Rascal Flatts is among the top artists of country. They never stop growing and their songs seem to be real feel-good ones that people can relate to & sing along with. I just LOVE the song 'Melt' and it seems to never get old. Hoepfully these guys have a lot more to bring throughout the future! Submitted by scottydont003 (Helotes, TX, USA) Was This Review Helpful?
