The decade of the 1990's was an era of transition for the legendary quartet from Dublin known to the world as U2. An earlier (and more serious) body of work gave way to albums such as POP and ZOOROPA, which radiated the band's positivity and energy in a more lighthearted fashion. THE BEST OF 1990-2000 culls the benchmark tracks from the band's studio albums ("One," "The First Time," "Beautiful Day"), as well as key movie soundtrack cuts ("Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me," "Miss Sarajevo").
While some diehards cooled their passion for the band in the height of their glitz and glamour, experiencing "Stay (Faraway, So Close)" shows the band stripped down to perfection in their most basic and graceful state. THE BEST OF goes even further, luring collectors with new tracks ("Electrical Storm," "The Hands That Built America") as well as new mixes of "Numb" and "Discotheque."
Recorded between 1990 & 2000.

A rather mixed affair Whilst "Best Of 1980-1990" were brilliantly chosen and compiled and truly represented their biggest classics and hits, "Best of 1990-2000" is a mixed affair and certainly not a "Best Of". Many obvious hits are missing, such as "The Fly", "Who's Gonan Ride Your Wild Horses" and "Elevation" (to name a few) are missing. Instead we have several new (inferior) songs along with some (likewise inferior) remixes of the "hits". The bonus disc consists of only a few b-sides and many (most unintersting) remixes. Instead of buying this compilation, buy "Achting Baby" and "All That You Can't Leave Behind" which includes most of their bigegst hits from that period. too much left behind Too many great songs left off. No Lemon, or the Fly. No Wild Horses. This was U2's best period of music. But not their best choice of songs to represent their work. Maybe they should have forgot about POP altogether. But their is still some very good stuff here.

What is a Best of ... After listening this album, I asked me what is, better said, what should have be a BEST OF. Just a couple or hit singles, plus remixes, plus unknown songs, plus new ones ?... Well, thatīs this album. Why did U2 call this album as a Best of ?. First of all, this compilation clearly missed some of the biggest U2 smashes during the 90īs, like The Fly or Lemon. Rather, U2 put unknow tunes like The First Time, Gone, Until The End Of The World, etc. The remixes sucks. The Album contains 16 songs... 4 remixes... we have 12 songs left... 2 new ones ( The Hands That Built America is filler stuff, the worst U2 song Iīve ever heard after Miami )... we have 10 songs left... unknown tunes... we have 7 songs left... WHERE IS THE BEST OF ?.
