(4 Customer Reviews)
DUETS is a compilation of duets and contains a new duet recording with Barry Manilow, "I Won't Be The One Let Go".
Barbra Streisand's long and varied career is the stuff of legend, as the actress/director/songstress consistently takes chances, never content to rest on her laurels. DUETS, a collection of her collaborations, reflects this wide-sweeping talent, amassing tracks from every facet of Streisand's career. DUETS includes partnerships with stars of pop, country, soul, disco, rock, songwriters of a bygone era, and stars of Broadway and opera. It boasts a track from probably the most famous record to bear the same title (Frank Sinatra's DUETS), a live duet with Dorothy herself culled from a 1963 episode of the Judy Garland Show, and the underappreciated mellow-cool "Guilty" with Bee Gee Barry Gibb.
Number One hits with Neil Diamond and Donna Summer sit alongside less remembered alliances with Celine Dion and Kim Carnes. There's even a track on which Barbra doubles up with herself. Most importantly to fans and collectors alike, DUETS features two new tracks, a fetching, modern Disney-esque torch song with Barry Manilow ("I Won't Be The One To Let Go") and a pitch perfect pairing with rising opera-pop star Josh Groban (the inspirational "All I Know Of Love").
Recorded between 1966 & 2002.

Barbra and Friends Do It All! This is an excellent collection of duets, whether you are a fan of Streisand or just a lover of a broad range of popular music. It's like two albums in one: a Barbra Streisand collection, and a Various Artists set. Barbra and friends span four decades and all musical genres, from romantic ballads ("You Don't Bring Me Flowers") to movie themes ("I Finally Found Someone") to R&B ("Cryin' Time") to Disco ("No More Tears") to Broadway ("The Music of the Night") to Country ("If You Ever Leave Me") to Easy Listening ("I've Got a Crush On You"). Barbra even duets with herself on the pop classic medley "One Less Bell to Answer/A House Is Not A Home". If this is not enough, the CD includes a few songs previously unreleased. The remastered sound is terrific, the sequencing works, and the overall effect is exhilirating. Truly an eclectic treasure, and an inspiration for every wannabe diva. Duets album
$15.95 Although Barbra Streisand has recorded for the same company, Columbia Records, throughout her career, her work has not been particularly well represented on compilations. Four single-disc best-ofs dot her discography, but the listener who wanted to do something as simple as purchase an album containing the original studio recordings of both her first Top Ten hit, "People," and her first number one, "The Way We Were," without plumping for the four-CD box set Just for the Record , was out of luck. Complicating the compiling of her career highlights is her position as essentially an album artist, despite having scattered 11 Top Ten pop hits across 32 years. The ideal collection would have to do justice to her popular early albums of the '60s, her mid-career singles hits of the '70s, and her renewed album success in the '80s and '90s. Here it is. At a CD-busting ...
| | Josh Groban CD (2001)
Duets CD music
$11.19 Josh Groban's meteoric rise to stardom began when hit producer David Foster selected him as a last-minute replacement at the dress rehearsal for the 1999 Grammy Awards, where the then-17-year-old singer stood in for Andrea Bocelli in a duet with Celine Dion. The rest, as they say, is history. But can the precocious baritone truly compete with the more seasoned powerhouses of the Classical Crossover scene?
Groban's self-titled debut album validates Foster's prescience and proves that the young vocalist is more than able to hold his own. He moves confidently through an eclectic program with a poise that belies his youth and relative inexperience. He uses his warm voice to great effect in a variety ...

"Hole In The World" was nominated for the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal.
This 1994 greatest hits package (released in anticipation of the band's wildly successful reunion tour and album) supplants THEIR GREATEST HITS 1971-1975. It adds seven songs, but unfortunately deletes "Already Gone," one of their best rockers.
What's most interesting about THE VERY BEST OF THE EAGLES - apart from the presence of obviously classic songs like "Take It Easy" and "Hotel California" - is that it demonstrates that the band's esthetic was fully formed from day one. Despite the fact that the songs here span nearly a decade, listening to them back to back you could almost believe they were the product of one marathon recording session.

| | Josh Groban Closer CD (2003)
Duets album
$10.85 Powerhouse vocalist Josh Groban may not be all things to all people, but he's certainly many things to many people. An international sensation, Groban is a Broadway-ready belter, romantic crooner, and classical/pop crossover phenomenon. Groban largely shies away from the more operatic side of his musical personality on CLOSER, leaning more towards a lush, cosmopolitan style that finds him singing in Italian, French, Spanish, and English with equal aplomb.

Duets CD music
$22.35 The self-titled debut album from Cactus, CACTUS features eight tracks including "You Can't Judge A Book By," "Let Me Swim," and "No Need To Worry."
Cactus may have never amounted to anything more than a half-hearted, last-minute improvised supergroup, but that don't mean their eponymous 1970 debut didn't rock like a mofo. The already quasi-legendary Vanilla Fudge rhythm section of Bogert and Appice may have provided the backbone of the band's business cards, and soulful, ex-Amboy Duke Rusty Day brought the voice, but it was arguably former Detroit Wheels guitarist Jim McCarty who was the true star in the Cactus galaxy, spraying notes and shredding solos all over album highlights such as "You Can't Judge a Book By the Cover," ...
