Epica Music Review Average Rating: (4.6 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Blown Away! Great Band, recommend. Sounds like Queensryche, Journey & Dream Theater all wrapped in one! Submitted by jbucci20 (Puyallup, WA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
An epic beginning! Totally awesome! I have also listened to all of Dream Theater, most of Symphony X, but this album rivals those two by far! They moved DT to number 3 on my list of top 5! DEFINATELY RECOMMENDABLE!!! Submitted by www.curseofcorey (Aumsville, OR, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Wonderful masterpiece! This album is truly amazing! Glad I heard it too. After laughing my head off at the likes of "Black Tower" on one of their previous albums that was complete "torchoorrrrrrr", Epica made me speechless. It is absolutely amazing and boy would I love to hear more albums like this one. Karma is also a fantastic album. I cannot find the words to describe Epica - you just have to buy it. One purchase you will never regret! Submitted by Sparky (New Zealand) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Dream Theater's and Symphony X's greatest rival I spent years listening to Dream Theater and recently I discovered Kamelot. Finally, a progressive, melodic metal that I know I'll be able to love for years. If you enjoy DT or Symphony X, you will love Kamelot! Epica, Karma, and The Fourth Legacy are all great! | | Kamelot Ghost Opera CD (2007)
Epica album
$14.15 Metal maestros Kamelot scored a major triumph with 2007's landmark symphonic opus, GHOST OPERA. An evocative blend of bulldozer metal, twisting prog, and grand, opulent strings, GHOST OPERA'S fusion of classical and heavy sounds was about as seamless a finished product as the genre's ever seen. With this reissue, the band has added on a second disc of thrilling live material, showcasing Kamelot's significant chops from a show in old-world Belgrade, ...
| | Kamelot Karma CD (2001)
Epica CD music
$10.45 Opening with the track "Regalis Aperture," an instrumental piece that sounds like it could have been lifted from the Chariots of Fire soundtrack, Kamelot's Karma promises to deliver ambitiously orchestral prog-metal from the very start. A scan of the song titles ("Wings of Despair," "The Light I Shine on You," "Temples of Gold") further suggests Kamelot's wholehearted embrace of the dramatic (expect lots of references to "destiny," "mountains," and "immortals"). Fans of symphonic metal groups like Helloween, Dream Theater, and Yngwie Malmsteen will find few surprises on the quasi-conceptual Karma -- which doesn't add any new wrinkles to the genre -- but they will appreciate the meticulous performances of the band. Tracks like "Forever" and "Karma" are propelled by blinding ...
| | Extreme Pornograffitti CD (1990)
Epica music CDs
$7.25 Extreme's self-titled 1989 debut made the Boston quartet quite a "buzz band" in the hard rock underground, but it wasn't until their sophomore release one year later, PORNOGRAFFITI, that the band scored their breakthrough hit. In the spring of '91, the lovely acoustic ballad "More than Words" was released as a single, and instantly became a smash hit (nearly a year after PORNOGRAFFITI was first released). And while they scored another hit with the similarly styled "Hole Hearted," Extreme's new pop fans must have been surprised when they heard the rest of the album, which was comprised mostly of hard rock/heavy metal tunes.
The album was also the band's first stab at writing a concept album--it dealt with the media's subtle yet constant use of sex in advertising and it's effect on the public. If you're in the mood for rock with a progressive edge and loaded with six-string wizardry (courtesy of Nuno Bettencourt), just check out "Decadence Dance," "When I'm President," "Get the Funk Out," It('s A Monster)," "He Man Woman Hater," and the title track.

| | Extreme Prejudice CD (1987) Original Soundtrack
Epica songs
$13.79 While the 1987 modern-day Western Extreme Prejudice remains justly forgotten, Jerry Goldsmith's score certainly deserves the second look afforded by La-La Land's 2005 special edition. Seamlessly fusing strings and synthesizers, the music is at once traditional and contemporary, its visceral intensity sharply capturing the film's emphasis on action. Goldsmith also pays particular attention to the film's Texas setting, culminating in the Latin-inspired climax "To Mexico." ~ Jason Ankeny
