Right off the bat, Michael Buble has you in his corner just because you know people have been calling the poor guy "Bubble" all his life (keep that accent on the second syllable, folks). Nomenclature aside, Buble's debut album positions him as something of a Harry Connick, Jr. for the 21st century. His husky croon gives him a bearing beyond his tender years, and in fact his Sinatra-phrased, pop-jazz style bears strong echoes of Connick's singing. Accordingly, the production leans heavily on the updated swing of chestnuts like "Fever" and "Come Fly With Me," but that's only part of the story.
As a modern song stylist, Buble digs into the standards of a more contemporary songbook as well. George Michael's jazzy ballad "Kissing a Ballad" has been a standard-in-waiting for some time, and a version of the Bee Gees' soulful ballad "How Can You Mend A Broken Heart" features a guest turn by Barry Gibb himself. And there are worse things that could happen to Stevie Wonder's "For Once in My Life" than to be given the big-band treatment. It's refreshing to hear the debut of a young singer who's simply applying a strong voice and style to quality songs instead of cynically treading the teen-pop treadmill.

Michael Buble Music Review Average Rating: (4.4 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Michael BUBLE's VOICE is a gift to be shared! What a great album. Boy does this kid ever have the pipes and looks! Everyone that's heard this disc is blown away by the velvet smooth vocals and sweet, sweet music. It seems that Foster has unveiled a true legend in the making.
You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine and How Can You Mend a Broken Heart are destined to become 'new' classics -- this boy would have made Sinatra, Darrin, Torme and even Elvis proud. Submitted by a reviewer (Courtenay , B.C., Canada) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.

Great Voice! I first heard Michael Buble through a friend and decided to buy it myself since I didn't hear all of the songs. Although I wouldn't listen to this everyday, I am definetly honored to add it to my music collection. He has a wonderful voice and lot's of potential in the music industry! As Good As It Gets! After listening to the CD I know why they are compairing him to "Frank"! It is great to find someone who believes that this music is worth singing. If you buy this one you will want more. Submitted by garyk (Madison, WI, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Great song styling lives again!! Michael Buble's style heralds back to a time when a smooth voice made the girls wild. I'm not going to compare Michael to Old Blue Eyes because he is not a copy of him, but a celebration of a genre that will never die (it only goes into hiding occasionnaly). This is a wonderful album with fresh arrangements like “Moondance”. Mr. Buble also show’s his respect for the afford mentioned one of the blue eyes with a couple of songs, “Summerwind” and “Come Fly With Me”, again these are not copies, they are pure Michael. My wife and I hope the best for this young talent and his wonderful instrument. If you like Sinatra, Conick, et al, GET THIS CD!!! Michael Buble album
$8.59 After the success of Michael Bublé's self-titled debut, DRG belatedly released this jazzy soundtrack from the 2001 film Totally Blonde in which Bublé had a co-starring role as a nightclub singer. Capitalizing on Bublé's newfound stardom, DRG basically ignores the music's connection to the film by altering the title and putting a shot of Bublé on the cover making it appear as if this was a proper Michael Bublé release. The slight misrepresentation was not lost on Bublé who has stated on his website that he did not want these songs released but that it was out of his control. In reality, the disc is not the complete disaster he makes it out to be, but buyers should be wary of the disc and understand what it is they are purchasing. The film's director, Andrew Van Slee, wrote or co-wrote all of the songs on this short, energetic disc while an as-yet unsigned Bublé does his best to breathe some life into these imitation swing-style songs. As with the standards he interpreted on his debut disc, Bublé sounds in command and comfortable fronting these slight tunes, making the songs sound much more interesting than they really are. Throughout most of the tracks Bublé channels his inner Sinatra in a way that is complementary but not imitative, as in the swagger of the disc's opening number, "That's How It Goes," where his Frank-ish vocals get revved up and zoom into a final Bobby Darin growl. His youthfulness does show through on the ballad "Anyone to Love," a boozy ode to losing at love in which Bublé's vocals lack the experience needed to truly portray the song's older, depressed character, but that is his only vocal misstep throughout these seven audio tracks. Although one could understand why Bublé would not want these early recordings to sit beside his stellar debut in CD bins, he shouldn't be too concerned as Totally Bublé does show what this gifted vocalist can do with even second-rate material. ~ Aaron Latham

| | Michael Buble Come Fly With Me CD (2004) With DVD; Digipak
Michael Buble CD music
$11.79 This release includes a bonus DVD featuring backstage and interview footage, and concert performances from New York, London, Hollywood and South Africa.
As with many emerging artists, Michael Buble is still developing a distinctive style of his own on COME FLY WITH ME. Regardless of that minor detail, what Buble does know is who he is as a performer, and what he wants to do with his considerable vocal talent. Reviving tunes made famous by artists such as Frank Sinatra, Peggy Lee, Tony Bennett, Elvis Presley, and Bobby Darin, Buble sings each melody with a fetching blend of deep respect and fresh-faced enthusiasm. And he has got the chops to back it all up--Buble is blessed with a sleek, warm tone in the tradition of the aforementioned royalty, as well as an undeniable ability to swing. Coming out backed by a full big band with punchy arrangements is one of his secret weapons--the guy surrounds himself with many like-minded musicians of an extremely high caliber. Highlights include a lightly swaying "My Funny Valentine" and a rousing yet nuanced take on "Nice 'N Easy."
This CD/DVD combo pack contains Buble's new CD, featuring 6 tracks and live performance footage and interview/backstage footage on DVD.
| | Michael Buble It's Time CD (2005)
Michael Buble music CDs
$11.65 Michael Buble's third major US release (including the mostly live COME FLY WITH ME) stays on message--this young Canadian loves the lush, swaying music of his parents' and grandparents' generations. Buble's albums, however, are much more than mere back-in-the-day exercises. The production and arranging of David Foster (Celine Dion, Josh Groban) is eclectic in a way that firmly places the tunes at the dawn of the 21st century, and, more importantly, Buble possesses the chops and sense of style to re-imagine the adult-contemporary vocal genre in a distinctive manner. In addition to standards by Gershwin and Porter, Buble embraces a variety of sounds, from Motown ("How Sweet It Is") to bossa nova ("Quando, Quando, Quando" with Nelly Furtado) to the Beatles ("Can't Buy Me Love" with a "She Loves You" tag). With his smooth croon and charming persona, Buble is a natural performer, and, for fans of fearlessly romantic and infectiously swinging music, IT'S TIME is a sure bet.
Although it took more than a year of concerts and promotional appearances, Michael Bublé's 2003 debut disc of swinging pop standards finally ascended the Billboard album chart and landed at number 47. That peak may not seem impressive at first, but in a musical world dominated by rap or the latest flavor of alternative rock, Bublé's upper chart appearance was a real accomplishment and it sparked a renewed interest in music associated with great vocalists like Frank Sinatra. With his second studio disc, It's Time, Bublé builds upon the musical foundation he laid with his debut and demonstrates that he is much more that a flavor-of-the-month celebrity. Like his debut, It's Time mines the rich history of pop music as Bublé applies his own technique to classic standards and incorporates his Rat Pack sound into modern pop songs. Other pop vocal giants have made attempts to reinterpret the pop songs of their day with appalling results (Mel Tormé's version of "Sunshine Superman" comes to mind), but Bublé has

Michael Buble songs
$16.15 On this 2005 CD/DVD release, charismatic Canadian singer Michael Buble is featured in a vibrant concert setting. The tracks on the DVD and CD differ, and while the former presents more material, the audio disc offers up eight excellent performances. Here Buble is supported by a formidable horn-heavy ensemble, creating a buoyant energy that perfectly suits his expressive voice. Buble lends his Sinatra-like swagger to lively renditions of "Feeling Good" and "Can't Buy Me Love," and duets with Italian vocalist Laura Pausini on the swaying "You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine." The DVD portion of CAUGHT IN THE ACT also includes behind-the-scenes footage.

| | Michael Buble Call Me Irresponsible CD (2007)
Michael Buble album
$10.09 Michael Buble ranks among the best of the contemporary crooners working in a classic pop-vocal style, and his 2007 album, CALL ME IRRESPONSIBLE, further refines his suave, smooth style. With its finger-snapping big band arrangements, the album has its share of homage to Frank and Dino, both obvious cornerstones of Buble's music. But this isn't merely a retro exercise; the tunes, the production, and the overall feel are decidedly contemporary.
Stylistically adventurous versions of songs by Eric Clapton, Leonard Cohen, and Willie Nelson keep things lively, while "Everything," a Buble original, is one of the album's highlights. Still, cuts like the lead-off track ("The Best Is Yet to Come") and the old chestnut "I've Got the World on a String" will give listeners looking for some elegant, back-in-the-day pizzazz exactly that.

| | Screws Presents 12 New Hate-Filled Classics CD (1999)
Michael Buble music CDs
$11.59 What's not to like about snappy tunes titled "Kill Someone You Hate," "I Hate Music," and "Can't Get Arrested"? Former Gories mastermind Mick Collins returns to lead yet another riotous punk R&B band, with the role of vocal and guitar foil going to Terri Wahl of the Red Aunts. If the Screws aren't always as inspired in their racket as earlier Collins projects, at least the band demonstrates unique tastes in their cover song selections, from the Mad (auteurs of the aforementioned "I Hate Music") to relatively obscure Frank Zappa. ~ Brian Beatty

| | Muffs Blonder And Blonder CD (1995)
Michael Buble songs
$6.09 The Muffs ascended to the majors in 1993, "discovered" by the same producer as Green Day. However, the three-piece L.A. band's brand of fevered rock, as revealed on 1995 Reprise debut BLONDER AND BLONDER, while certainly not short on hooks, betrayed much more complexity than your standard pop punk act. While the simple, bouncy, sing-a-long pop of "Sad Tomorrow" should have found a home in MTV heavy rotation, and "Agony" would have deftly followed "Longview" in any alt radio set, the rest of the record subtly bobs from the Runaways scream of "Oh Nina" to the barroom rockabilly of "Red Eyed Troll" to the '50s balladry of "End It All." A diverse record, doomed to be lost in the shuffle, BLONDER AND BLONDER is nevertheless a standard of what pop punk should be, an ever-evolving cavalcade of clashing ideas.

| | Kassav K Toz CD (2004) Import
Michael Buble music CDs
$15.45 K TOZ the 2004 release by Zouk masters Kassav contains the songs "San Ayen," "Leron," and "Jump," among others.
K toz features Kassav"s zouk founding fathers, Georges Decimus and Jacob Desvarieux, plus all the mainstays except Patrick Saint-Eloi. As usual, the production is first rate. The enormous lineup of Antillean and African churn out tremendous torque here nevertheless. There's also plenty of pulverizing percussion and swing for dancers. Kassav' always manages to reconnect with its drumming roots, gwo ka and zouk's precursor, cadence. They also deftly inject touches of creolized European dance rhythms into the pot. The mix of all these styles and many more went into creating the primal zouk wave. Kassav' is the best at reaffirming all these musical currents that go into the fine mix that is zouk par excellence. The different vocalists' timbre always give Kassav' albums varied textures and feelings. This album doesn't take a ballad breather until the ninth track. The founding fathers can still kick it, and kick they do after 25 or so releases. Highly recommended. ~ Mark Romano
