| | George Strait For The Last Time: Live From The Astrodome CD George Strait Discography of CDs
(5 Customer Reviews)
This live album marks a major event in more than one way. While any George Strait concert is an event in itself, this is the first live album the singer has released in over 25 years of recording. It's doubly significant as it marked the last night of the Houston Rodeo at the Astrodome, a four-decade tradition. Strait's name had become synonymous with the Rodeo by this time, so it was only naturally for him to play on its final night at the Dome, a pomp-and-circumstance affair that was even attended by President Bush.
The songs Strait performs with his kickin' live band run the gamut of his repertoire. There's the old-school Western swing of "Take Me Back to Tulsa," the New Traditionalist semi-modernism of "Write This Down," the honky-tonk humor of "Murder on Music Row," and much more, all delivered with Strait's rare combination of taste and charisma. Fittingly, things close out to much fanfare with the elegiac "The Cowboy Rides Away."
Recorded live at the Astrodome, Houston, Texas on March 3, 2002.

One of Best Live CD's of All Time This is a great CD. George loses nothing from studio to stage, in fact, in some ways, he is better. He chooses some of his greatest songs, like "Amarillo By Morning", which gives me chill bumps. One of the great class acts of country music of all time. For The Last Time: Live From The Astrodome album
$5.25 It could easily be argued that George Strait never made a bad album and they were all hits, but even among that remarkably consistent catalog, 1989's Beyond the Blue Neon stands apart from the pack, with half of its ten tracks reaching the country charts. Three of these topped the charts -- "Baby's Gotten Good at Goodbye," "What's Going on in Your World," and "Ace in the Hole" -- with "Overnight ...

$19.99 MIRIAM STOCKLEY - BIOGRAPHYMiriam Stockley is widely regarded as one of the best vocalists in the world having worked with everyone from Kylie Minogue & Elton John to Tina Turner & Tom Jones. And, not an artist to be pigeonholed, her classical work has also brought her notoriety as she became known as the lead voice of Karl Jenkins' multi million selling Adiemus project. Miriam has a new album out, which looks set to be the finest work of her incredible career. No stranger to controversy, Miriam's career started at the age of 11 with her first record, 'Burn, Burn, Burn' being banned in her own country of South Africa (the censors believed that she was inciting kids to burn down their schools!) She was later fired by Sheena Easton (for being too good at her backing vocalist job) and whilst working with Stock, Aitkin & Waterman at PWL during the eighties, she was involved in a tabloid scandal when it was revealed that it was Miriam who provided the ghost vocals on Samantha Fox's hit "Touch me" not the Page 3 stunner!Relocating to the UK proved a good move for Stockley where she quickly established herself as a talented vocalist and began working in film (Rob Roy, Great Expectations, The Clandestine Marriage), TV (mimicking the likes of Madonna for Spitting Image) and recording with multi million selling artists. A collaboration with Freddie Mercury & Montserrat Caballe on their 1990 album led to further work on both Brian May and Queen albums, so no surprise then that Miriam also performed at the Tribute concert that followed Mercury's death in 1991, where she sang with, amongst others, George Michael, David Bowie and Elton John. The Adiemus project, released in 1995 to both critical and commercial success, consolidated Miriam's earlier work. Following her number 2 UK hit 'Only You' with band 'Praise' in 1991, Miriam was asked by former Soft Machine members Karl Jenkins and Mike Ratledge to work on a piece of music for a Delta Airlines commercial. This evolved into 'Songs Of Sanctuary' by Adiemus, recorded with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, which, together with its sequels'Cantata Mundi' 'Dances Of Time', 'The Journey', 'The Eternal Knot' and 'Adiemus Live' have sold over 3 million copies worldwide.
