| | Enigma Mcmxc, A.d. CD (1990)
Sweet Melody Of The Joyful Aspiration CD music
$13.45 Perhaps this is what a techno artist would create to incite monks to dance: innocent grooves, sacred texts. Until, there enters another breathy, sensual woman with sultry French talk. By now there's a compelling dance groove, which builds for a few minutes, then finally plateaus into a space filled with dripping sounds where the beat is kept afloat by the rhythmic panting of our seductress. Gradually this grows as more instruments are added, and she continues, this time in English, with "The Principles Of Lust." Finally the panting becomes erratic, the Monks sing backwards, and Enigma has another fan.
"Good evening. This is the voice of Enigma. In the next hour we will take you with us into another world, into the world of music, spirit and meditation. Turn off the lights, take a deep breath and relax." So begins the experience ...
| | Vas In The Garden Of Souls CD (2000)
Sweet Melody Of The Joyful Aspiration music CDs
$13.35 A celebrated black and white photograph by Linda Connor graces the cover of IN THE GARDEN OF SOULS; a sculpted stone head of the Buddha that over the centuries has been entwined in the roots of a tree. The image speaks of permanence within a state of change, or, as felt in the music of Vas, a sound that is at once timeless and strikingly new.
Like Loreena McKennitt, Greg Ellis and vocalist Azam Ali evoke a distinct sense of medieval place and time, but one that originates further east and is warmed by the elegiac sound of Farsi on such tracks ...

| | Lambchop What Another Man Spills CD (1998)
Sweet Melody Of The Joyful Aspiration music CDs
$9.95 It's unclear exactly who fostered the misconception that Lambchop was some kind of alt-country band, but it's an inexplicable notion that will be immediately be dispelled upon listening to WHAT ANOTHER MAN SPILLS (or any of their other albums, for that matter). Closer in spirit to the Tindersticks than Son Volt, the band uses lush orchestrations that include strings, woodwind, vibes and pedal steel to support main songwriter Kurt Wagner's strange, understated vocals and quirky, poetic, often humorous lyrics. Unlike Tindersticks, Pinetop Seven, Willard Grant ...
| | Johnny Cash Sings His Best CD (1993)
Sweet Melody Of The Joyful Aspiration songs
$11.79 Born in Arkansas, Johnny Cash began his musical career in the early 50s, following his discharge from the Army. Cash developed his sound with Luther Perkins (lead guitar) and Marshall Grant (bass). Their debut, "Hey Porter"/"Cry, Cry, Cry," emerged in 1955 on Sun Records followed by "Folsom Prison Blues" and "I Walk The Line." In 1958 Carl Perkins' drummer, W.S. Holland, joined and Cash switched to Columbia Records, on which his "Don't Take Your Guns To Town" sold half a million. Cash married June Carter in 1968 and they had several hit duets. Solo, Cash recorded At Folsom Prison which remains his best album and a contender for the best country record of all time. Shel Silverstein gave him "A Boy Named Sue," which became Cash's only Top 10 pop hit. Cash has recorded many religious albums including The Gospel Road, with Kris Kristofferson, Larry Gatlin, and the Statler Brothers. Cash moved to Mercury Records in 1986 and ...
| | Bill Nelson Crimsworth CD (2003) (Import)
Sweet Melody Of The Joyful Aspiration album
$18.39 This album contains the music he was commissioned to write for artist Rob Ward's "Crimsworth" installation. This comes in the form of two lengthy tracks. Well, sort of. As far as I can tell the CD contains just the one track, repeated twice, but given the ambient subtleties of that track it's very difficult to confirm this. The track(s) see Bill taking a completely ambient approach for the first time. Over the course of 31 minutes sounds fade in and out of hearing and occasional hints of melody appear only to vanish before they develop into something substantial. The only obvious comparison that can be made is to the work ...

| | Hush Sound Goodbye Blues CD (2008)
Sweet Melody Of The Joyful Aspiration CD music
$12.39 The third album from the Chicago indie-rock outfit the Hush Sound refines the smart, melodic pop found on their first two releases. Distinguished by the piano playing and singing of Greta Salpeter, the Hush Sound draw influences from classic 1960s pop, the music hall tradition, `80s power pop, and contemporaries like Belle and Sebastian. GOODBYE BLUES also offers a poignancy ...
| | Simply Burns CD (2008)
Sweet Melody Of The Joyful Aspiration music CDs
$18.99 In January of 2008, four talented individuals came together to create an evening of song, poetry and readings in celebration of Scotland’s best-loved bard, Robert Burns. Their aim was to offer an eclectic collection of material written by and inspired by Burns—some of it familiar, and some less so—designed both to entertain, and to simplify the man and his works for those who find it all a bit daunting. The show, called “Simply Burns,” was presented to a packed house at the Watermill bookshop in Aberfeldy, Scotland. It was intended to be a one-time-only event, but as time went by requests were regularly received for it to be repeated. Eventually, the artists decided to revive the show and take it on the road throughout Scotland and beyond. This album includes a selection of songs, poems and letters from “Simply Burns.” If you’ve been to the show, then ...
