Funking awesome.
I love this album. George Clinton was their best producer ever. It's quite sad how most people don't know about this album.
Only thing: Jungle Man and Blackeyed Blonde sound somewhat like Fight Like a Brave and Out in LA, respectively. They're still great songs, though.
Buy this album now.

This is THE pinacle album!
Red Hot Chili Peppers. The Album that changed it all. Put them in middle - mainstream and started the funk revolution. If you listen to any other album following this, it pales in compassion to the timing, funky beats and soulful guitar that this album just drips of. If you want RHCP at their best, then this is it.

Freaky Stylin'!
Hey 'johncaudy'in Wilmette, IL, if you recommended this album, why did you only give it one star? Anyway, indeed 'Freaky Styley' was the best example of the Chili Peppers original sound. It has some good songs on it. 'If You Want Me To Stay' is just great. 'Catholic Schoolgirls Rule' is just rockin' any there are many other good songs on 'Freaky Styley'.

Funk It UP!
This cd is the funkiest thing I've ever heard from the chilis. It took me a little bit for it to grow on me (because I started out with their new stuff and worked my way back to the old-skool) Besides some of the songs being kinda lame and Anthony's vocals being mediocre on a some of them...this album is awesome. Gotta love that funky-Flea bass!
My fav songs: Jungleman, American Ghost Dance, If You Want Me to Stay, Catholic School Girls Rule, Thirty Dirty Birds (hahaha)
least fav: Freaky Styley
the rest of the songs are pretty good

what the funk?
if u know RHCP, u know that they are all about the funk. and there second album has the funkiest they made. With the guitar solo's of an underrated genius and the bass play of Flea, you'll just enjoy.
