Originally released as three separate albums, DIARY OF A MADMAN, BARK AT THE MOON and THE ULTIMATE SIN.
As part of Sony's specially priced "three-in-one" packages, three Ozzy Osbourne classics were issued together in 1998, DIARY OF A MADMAN, BARK AT THE MOON, and THE ULTIMATE SIN. Although it might seem strange that Ozzy's most popular solo album, 1981's BLIZZARD OF OZ was ommited from the trio, the three CDs are nevertheless among the most popular heavy metal releases of the '80s. 1981's DIARY OF A MADMAN was Ozzy's second and final album with original guitarist Randy Rhoads, while both 1983's BARK AT THE MOON and 1986's THE ULTIMATE SIN featured six-string shredder Jake E. Lee.
Although the recording of DIARY OF A MADMAN was rushed (a deadline had to be met for an impending tour), the album remains one of Ozzy's finest. Such metallic standards as "Over the Mountain" and the stoner anthem "Flying High Again" are obvious standouts, as are "Believer," "Little Dolls," "Tonight," and the haunting title track. The other two albums show Osbourne moving in a slightly more commercial direction, yet there are plenty of rockers to go around--BARK AT THE MOON's title track and "Rock n' Roll Rebel," plus THE ULTIMATE SIN's title track and "Lightning Strikes," among others.
Import compilation combines three of the shock rocker's albums, 'Diary Of A Madman' (1981), 'Bark At The Moon' (1983), & 'The Ultimate Sin' (1986) (Out-of-print in the US), together in one low-priced package. Each disc features individual standard packaging & come housed together in a slipcase. Sony.

Diary Of A Madman/Bark At The Moon/Ultimate Sin Music Review
Average Rating: (4.4 out of 5 stars) Three Great Albums. Three of Ozz's best! Unbastardized, too...unlike the '02 remasters from Epic Records, that we're stuck with in the U.S. Submitted by Butt-Head (Highland, TX., USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 2 of 2 found this helpful.
Definitely 3 of Ozzys Best I just recently purchased this wonderful box set and so far I haven't been disappointed. All 3 albums are great especially Diary of a Madman and Bark at the Moon. If you're a big fan of his earlier work, this set is a must! One caveat, don't purchase the 2nd remastered series from 2002; they're not good! I purchased these ASAP, fearing that the 1995 remastered versions will only get harder and harder to find going forward. Submitted by LongColdWinter (York County, SC) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
diary of a madman what can you say. this is perfection. randy rhoads just had so much knowledge on music, he knew how to write the best. when you think of the way a song changes in middle parts or changes keys. randy just knew where to go. max norman said that it was so amazing that nobody tried to help him they just tried to keep up. his soloing was just amazing but his songwriting topped it all. just listen closely to how well this album is written, enough said. over and sato and title track are still something that nobody has even come close to. i am a big vh fan, but eddie couldn't even come close to the cleverness that randy had. eddie van halen set standards, randy just smoked him by painting a picture with his music. perfect album, no fillers here. its ozzy! enough said! it is actually cheaper to buy this 3 pack in the states than here in australia!
22bit remaster albums, must haves for any collection. i actually own a few versions of each of these albums and just got these to remain in a sealed packet as i already own but the 22 remasters are hard to come by these days and if you dont have them you should get them. the sound is rich and full, no re-recorded overdubbed garbage like the 2002 versions, these are the real deal and rock like ozzy should.
thumbs up all round. Submitted by metaldansix6six (melbourne, australia) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
A triple set of Ozz, Diary, Bark at the Moon, Ultimate Sin Certainly a good buy with this much master shredding in one set. Even though Blizzard of Ozz is not included in this set, The album, referred to as rushed by many due to deadline's set from a nightmareish recording contract,Diary of a Madman, is lacking nothing to keep it from the masterpiece standard of praise. This unfortunatly Randy Rhoads last and certainly most creative recording in his short lived, yet forever legendary career, features tracks such as Over the Mountain, Believer, the OZZY anthem "YOU CAN'T KILL ROCK AND ROLL", and the spine tingleing title track "DIARY OF A MAD MAN", round out a truly irreplaceable Icon of what Great Metal Should be. With such a difficult postition to fill, Jake E. Lee, Randy's sucessor answers the call for master status with Bark at the Moon (title track)."Waiting for Darkness","Rock and Roll Rebel",featuring master engineering "GOD", Max Norman, still in the captains seat and Bob Daisley, on rock solid thunder bass,(co=writer of Blizzard, Diary and Bark),Jake E. Lee's 2nd effort, "The Ultimate Sin", is just as hot a blaze as the first, yet opening avenues to more mainstream listener's with recording's like, "Shot in the Dark".Only to broaden Osbournes fanbase to more radio friendly listeners. Truly great music from truly great variations of writers, a must have in the ol' Metal collection. Submitted by Stacy Guitarist4Plow (Roanoke ,Va.) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
