| | FFH Ready To Fly CD FFH Discography of CDs
With READY TO FLY, chart-topping CCM quartet FFH (which stands for "Far From Home") delivers an energetic album chock full of Beatlesque hooks, sweet vocal harmonies and multi-layered production. Much less alternative rock-influenced than contemporaries such as Newsboys and DC Talk, the group's unique style of slightly '60s-leaning, angst-free music should appeal to any fan of energetic good-time pop in the vein of Hanson or The Monkees. Lead vocalists Jeremy and Jennifer Deiber both have memorable voices, the former possessed of a distinctive twang that occasionally recalls vintage Leon Russell. For non-believers, the band's obvious passion, mastery of sharp melodies, and penchant for varied instrumental textures make the overtly Christian lyrics an easy, and often quite sweet, pill to swallow.
Additional personnel includes: Schuyler Duryee, Michael Boggs (acoustic guitar); Lincoln Brewster, Jerry McPherson (guitar); Brian Smith (trumpet, bass); Jeff Roach (piano, synthesized bass); Scott Williamson (keyboards, drums); Joey Canaday (bass); Ken Lewis (percussion); The Nashville String Machine.
Producers: Scott Williamson, David Hamilton.
FFH: Jeromy, Jennifer, Brian, Michael.

For its second outing THE YOUNG AND THE HOPELESS, Good Charlotte gives any notion of a sophomore jinx a combative boot to the side of the head thanks to an abundance of chanting choruses and choppy guitar riffs. Like standard-bearers Blink-182, this Maryland quartet frolics in a land of teen angst peppered with snarky optimism that comes across best within the margins of the rebellious "Anthem," rambunctious "Riot Girl" (no doubt a cousin of the Dead Milkmen's "Punk ...

Ready To Fly
$12.15 Beatnik is a hip hop group that consists of two members, Albert Ransom aka "Coppatone", and Lateef Watkins aka "Monk", who grew up in Poughkeepsie, New York. Currently, Beatnik has just finished their debut album entitled "Open" which is now being released. The album is a stepping stone that will introduce Coppatone Productions and Beatnik to the public. In 1997 Coppatone, Monk and Alexander Ransom aka "Z", decided to take their hobby to the next level and formed a group called "Trifecta". They recorded a demo at a local recording studio but Coppatone wasn't pleased with the quality of the CD that he just spent alot of time and money on, so he decided to piece together his own studio. For about two years Trifecta spent their time writing and recording songs with other local acts while Coppatone did most of the production gaining experience every step of the way. From 1999 to 2001 Trifecta grew distant, only getting together occasionally to cut a track. In March 2001 ...
| | Wither Breakthrough CD (2004)
Ready To Fly
$11.39 Wither is a struggle against the dark realizations that seemed to come more and more the further we move away from our childhoods. It was the way in which it's members delt with the typical tendency to become obsessed with life's negativity. They found a certain pride in their sorrow and the will to create something musical that came with it, and when it was okay to be sad, happiness was possible. Wither is a band, a brotherhood, a shared desire to create something extra-ordinary through music. Years of evolution, experimentation and soul searching has led these 5 musicians ...

Ready To Fly
$16.45 With a mutual interest in Americana music, I imagine there are others who will understand when I say, Americana speaks to me in the same way that rock music used to, when I was in my late teens and twenties. In conversation with others who have yet to discover this rich vein of music, I have often used the expression “rock ‘n’ roll for grown ups”, well, in spirit at least, to describe what I find Americana to be.I continue to discover more artists and buy more albums these days (courtesy of the indispensable BBC radio presenter Bob Harris) and attend even more gigs than I did thirty years ago. In fact my top ten favourite gigs of all time, is now more like top thirty. Certainly fairly recent outstanding gigs by Rod Picott Band, AJ Roach Trio, Kevin Montgomery Band, Chris Knight, Slaid Cleaves, Roger McGuinn, Peter Bruntnell, and Lucinda Williams have equalled the emotional pull, raw passion, sensitivity or killer punch of the best Jackson Browne, Neil Young, John Fogerty, Steve Earle and Bruce Springteen gigs that I’ve been lucky enough to witness several times before. So to a new album called OUR LADY OF THE DESERT HIGHWAYS. My name is Roy Swanwick, my musical influences are partly listed in the paragraph above. I have been playing and recording with Chris Cartlidge, for the last three or four years. Chris’s own musical influences are amongst others, Cliff Bruner, Michael Doucet and Hank Williams. This ...
