Tattoo Broken Hearts album
$11.29 Susan Boyle's grand unveiling on Britain's Got Talent was with a song from Les Miserables - the very song that lends this album its title -- and if she could become an international sensation based on a show tune standard, there's no reason for her to change her approach on her debut, since that's the sound that made her a star. Plus, a large part of Boyle's appeal is that she's a middle-aged woman recalling a bygone era when there were singers that appealed to an adult audience by offering soft, stately versions of pop hits and standards. That time was the late `60s and early `70s, and apart from a rather faithful version of Madonna's "You'll See," I Dreamed a Dream could very well have been released all those years ago, as it mixes up the show tunes, gospel, and Christmas carols with covers of Skeeter ...
| | Jimmy Buffett Buffet Hotel CD (2009)
Tattoo Broken Hearts CD music
$9.74 Since Jimmy Buffett never leaves his comfort zone, it's hard to call 2009's Buffet Hotel a return to roots but, in a way, it is. Discounting the mock rap on "Turn Up the Heat and Chill the Rosé," this album doesn't even have the lingering country and reggae flavors that seasoned 2006's Take the Weather with You, with all of the songs riding a cool, mellow country-rock wave, the kind that has been his stock-in-trade since the `70s. There's a difference between being part of a tradition and being stuck in the past and Buffett is surely in the former, not shying away from the new millennial mess, admitting that we all ...
| | Pink Funhouse CD (2008) Explicit
Tattoo Broken Hearts music CDs
$8.99 Pink's insistently hooky, attitude-filled pop-rock has kept the singer a fixture on the radio and on singles charts since the early 2000s. The artist's fifth effort, FUNHOUSE, doesn't tamper with the formula: Pink's powerhouse vocals and in-your-face approach, backed ...

Tattoo Broken Hearts music CDs
$8.85 All tracks have been digitally mastered using HDCD technology.
AS TIME GOES BY was nominated for the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album.
Back in the early '70s, Bryan Ferry released a pair of albums, THESE FOOLISH THINGS and ANOTHER TIME, ANOTHER PLACE. With the exception of the title track on the latter, both records consist entirely of Ferry's reinterpretations of other artists' songs, all of which bear his own personal stamp. AS TIME GOES BY, which was released in 1999, is another collection of covers, which were taken primarily from the '30s. This time around, however, the songs are fairly faithful renditions of the originals, even down to the addition of artificial "surface noise" and the "canning" of Ferry's vocals to simulate the sonic idiosyncrasies of a old-fashioned, hank-cranked record player.

| | Fall Imperial Wax Solvent CD (2008)
Tattoo Broken Hearts songs
$9.99 2008 release from Mark E. Smith and his ever-changing line-up of The Fall. Though band members have come and gone in the band, Mark E. Smith has managed to maintain a clear and focused musical vision. There's no other band quite like The Fall and once you've heard them, you'll never forget them. Smith has never been one to hold back on releasing new music and The Fall usually release six albums in the same span of time that a less interesting band will release one album and a single! Sanctuary.
Recorded after a tour that found leader/vocalist/lyricist Mark E. Smith handing out his umpteenth set of pink-slips and changing about half the band, Imperial Wax Solvent is a surprisingly vital and solid release, benefiting from a hungry young band under the guidance of a veteran who is inspired, jaded, and often sounds twice as hungry as the young bucks. After getting the artful, "difficult" number out of the way ("Alton Towers") and riffling through the garage rock-loving song ("Wolf Kidult Man") that's a hallmark of every great Fall album, Smith speaks to his age with the monolithic, 11-plus minute highlight "50 Year Old Man" ("I'm a fifty year old man/What you gonna do about it?") where buzzing, throbbing, and quintessential riffing from the band gives way to rustic banjo plucking right before the free jazz freak-out comes in. Even in a discography filled with legendary maverick tracks, "50 Year Old Man" is a standout, one that contains the great Smith insult "You're a gym teacher/You're a ...
