COMO UNA HISTORIA is an album by the singer Isabel Parra, who is the daughter of the legendary Chilean revolutionary folk singer Violeta Parra.
Daughter of Violeta Parra, New Chilean song movement's most significant figure, Isabel Parra always lived in a musical environment. At the age of 13, the artist made her debut record, with her mother playing guitar. In 1964, along with her brother Angel Parra, she founded Pena de los Parra, which became an important meeting place for people related to local culture. During her exile, Isabel Parra continued her solo career in the Latin neighborhood of Paris. In 1988, her contribution to Chilean culture was recognized with a Golden Laurel award. Exposing every weakness, second-guessing every strength. Examining each under a steady, piercing microscope. From the angst filled Wound to the moody and melodic Fade Away, Advent displays exactly what it takes to win the Scream for Me Dallas Rock Album of the Year for 2004. The band as a whole is a dominating stage presence that draws you in from the first chord. The live show is one of the best and most well respected in the Dallas music scene. Individually the members of Advent show the music community what a dramatic piece of art a five-piece jigsaw puzzle can be. Brandan Narrell, vocalist, combines an over the top personality with an outlandish crude humor that seems to appeal and attract people from all walks of life. His top of the line vocal range has caught the attention of several critics and fans, including platinum recording artists, and Dallas icons, Drowning Pool. Who, after the untimely passing of their front man, Dave Williams, in 2002, asked Brandan to audition. Vinnie Paul and Dime Bag Darrell also contacted Brandan to audition for DAMAGEPLAN.The true home to Brandan's voice however belonged with Advent. For the last ten years, Simon Petty's husky vocals led the Los Angeles based English quartet Minibar. On indefinite hiatus after the release of Desert After Rain, Petty turns to The Sea, The Sea for his solo debut as Solomon's Seal. Produced by Seth Rothschild, the disc will be released on June 2, 2009 independently and celebrated with a CD release show at Largo on Friday, May 29th.
