Much better than i originally thought
I bought this way back when it came out and except for a song or two i was thrown off by it.
Now many years later i can fully enjoy this for what it is, and that is a very dark almost Pink Floyd'ish release by them that is very deep in content if you give it a chance and with a open mind.
Never listen to this with their earlier releases in mind, but take it as a stand alone and very mature release, and now with some very good bonus tracks
what was very good is even better.

5 stars, but not as a heavy metal album
Considering I am more a "hard rocker" and not exactly a "heavy metal man", this is my favourite album of Queensr˙che.
Not so much screaming voice and extreme loud guitars - that's what I always had waited of this band (sorry, headbangers!).

Its good to open minded people
The quality is here. Just let go of your previous feelings for the band. I think this is their magnum opus, there is heavy, there are ballads, there is great vocals, great solo's, great words... just not the eighties sound anymore. They have grown. If I have to choose their number one album, it would be this. Sorry. I like mindcrime but I like Empire better. And this Promised Land is the top.

not quite the promised land
The first half of the record is quite good but it's the second half that disappoints.Still a good album but not in their top three.

Beerman knows nothing
This IS their best album. Get it. Bands evolve, and this was the perfect evolutionary step for the band.
