ERPLAND (originally a double LP) is the Ozric Tentacles' first CD proper and sets the tone for the records that follow. Let the wizard lead you throughout these uncharted lands, across the rainbow-splashed peninsula on the cover, as you bask in the radioactive glow of "Eternal Wheel," tumbling to and fro on a river of bubbling sequencers and cybertronic guitars. Prepare yourself for the mental journeys across inner space and "Mysticum Arabicola," where tablas pound out the future sounds of India, while above, our alien ancestors descend to reclaim the planet that was once their own, their starship's lights shimmering and boosters blasting the approaching earth into obsidian. This is music of colors, energy, and vitality; impeccably produced and extremely well executed. It would be a high crime to not enjoy the galloping sequencers, outerreach electronics, coruscating guitar lines, and enthralling percussion of the Ozrics on anything but the best that high fidelity has to offer.
2003 reissue of the classic 1990 album, remastered & repackaged in a stunning digipak. 12 tracks. Snapper. 2003.

A trip around the world A mixture of world beats and rhythms combined with spacey sounds and aggressive guitar. Some good variety, but it lacks the energy and dynamics of "Curious Corn" in my opinion. Submitted by Sinkadotentree (Wasaga Beach,On) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Amazing space-trip rock The quality of this originally 2 lp release, now on one CD just does not stop from beginning to end. Ed's guitar work is scorching, but melodic. Lot's of middle-eastern influences here, but not TOO much. Heavy but very spacey. You must buy this CD, and then buy everything else by the group. Their line up has changed over the years, yet the band remains true to it's art form. This CD, in my mind, is the original "classic" Ozrics CD...which first introduced me to this wonder group. Amazing other worldly psychedelic space rock Considered by many Erpers' as the Ozric Tentacles finest album, Erpland marks the point when the Tentacles moved from making tape-only releases to full fledged albums.
This record is a full jorney into a land created out of bubbling sounds, tight flowing space grooves, all peppered with middle eastern spices and a dash of reggae from another planet. This is a classic album not to be missed which still sounds newer and more inventive than most music coming out today. Submitted by a reviewer (Minneapolis MN) Was This Review Helpful? Erpland songs
$15.99 For a band whose epic compositions and dramatic dynamics play so well in concert, it's somewhat surprising that Mogwai didn't release an official live album until 2010's Special Moves. For fans who have seen the band live and novices alike, the set was worth the wait. Recorded at one of the band's 2009 Brooklyn shows, Special Moves is beautifully mixed, balancing all of their onstage elements carefully while capturing the sheer power of their concerts; there's also just enough audience noise to remind listeners that they're playing in front of a devoted crowd. This sense of balance extends to the rest of the album, from its even-handed mix of songs from each of Mogwai's albums, to its equal measure of introspective and bombastic moments. True to the band, Special Moves' setlist is somewhat willful; it's not just a playlist of Mogwai's best-known songs. Happy Songs for Happy People's "Hunted by a Freak" is as close as the band gets to playing a hit single, a relatively concise moment in a generous set dominated by expansive performances. The two biggest ...
| | David Ruffin I Am My Brothers Keeper CD (1971)
Erpland album
$15.18 With neither Ruffin brother experiencing significant success in the wake of their non-simultaneous departure from the Temptations, Jimmy latched upon the idea of recording a duet album with the younger David -- partially as a way to pay tribute to their recently passed parents, partially as a way to jump-start their stalled careers. In regards to the latter, 1970's I Am My Brother's Keeper was no great shakes, barely scraping the pop charts and its lead single "Stand by Me" only reaching 24 on the R&B charts, but as a testament to the familial talents of the Ruffins, the LP succeeds, proving that these two great voices could enliven familiar tunes. It's a knack that's needed here, for much of I Am My Brother's Keeper consists of splashy, sequin-studded and polyester-draped covers of pop and R&B hits. Just under half of the album consists of versions of tunes by the Hollies, Ben E. King, the Delfonics and Tyrone Davis, with the rest of the record coming from in-house Motown writers and elsewhere, including the rousing Gloria Jones co-write "When My Love Hand Comes Down." This is one of five Bobby Taylor productions on the LP, and he gives the Ruffins soulful, funky sounds that showcase them at their best, with Henry Cosby, Duke Browner, Frank Wilson and Al Kent responsible for the songs that edge a little closer to the pop charts. Combined, all the producers provide a sampler of Motown sounds at the dawn of ...
| | Ray Parker, Jr Raydio/Rock On CD (2010)
Erpland CD music
$12.50 This Edsel release combines Ray Parker, Jr.'s first two Raydio albums, 1977's Raydio and 1978's Rock On. Both Arista releases peaked in the Top Ten of Billboard's R&B Albums chart, catapulted respectively by "Jack and Jill" and "You Can't Change That" -- two of the catchiest late-`70s R&B singles with genuine pop appeal. Between the albums, three additional singles from them -- "Is This a Love Thing," "Honey I'm Rich," and "More Than One Way to Love a Woman" -- were moderately successful, and a handful of album cuts rise above filler level. At the time, Parker was just about living in recording studios, pulling session and songwriting work for dozens of artists, so it's remarkable that he had this much left in him. Casual fans can stick to hits collections. Those who always have time for light, melodic funk with clever songwriting will find much to enjoy. The disc will come as a relief to those who missed out on the early-'90s reissues and the limited 2008 LP-replica remasters that appeared in Japan. ~ Andy Kellman
Digitally remastered two-fer containing a pair of albums from the R&B band on one CD: Raydio (1978) and Rock On (1979). Ray Parker Jr, formed the group Raydio in Detroit. They hit big with their very first single 'Jack And Jill', which was a hit on both sides of the Atlantic, reaching #8 (R&B #5) in the U.S. and #11 in the UK. The song was featured on the gold-selling debut, Top 10 album Raydio, along with ...

Erpland music CDs
$12.75 It's no surprise that ALADDIN SANE and PIN UPS came out in the same year. Each drip with the seedy sexuality of London's late '60s sexual revolution. Yet, while PIN UPS was a mid-'60s sampling of influences--a glorified cover album--ALADDIN SANE was all Bowie.
Stepping out of the Ziggy Stardust shadow (Bowie would announce his temporary retirement from the stage later that year), ALADDIN SANE was the aftermath of Ziggy's visit, a brutal memoir of ...
