| | Karim Rashid: Newyorkelectronew CD - Import
Renegade clothing designer Karim Rashid decided that working with Prada, Hilfiger, and Armani wasn't enough, so he became a record producer. That makes sense, though, as virtually everybody who set foot in his boutique stores asked, "Hey, who's ... Full Descriptionthat playing on the sound system?" This set features music from Suicide, Talking Heads, MC5, Material, and Man Parrish, among many others.
The first in a series of CD’s inspired by the world renowned designer, Karim Rashid. In 1993, Rashid opened his own design house in New York City after establishing a personal reputation at other famous designer houses like Prada, Issey Miyake, Totem, Pure Design, Estee Lauder, Tommy Hilfiger, Giorgio Armani, Sony and others. The music on this disc is inspired heavily by the early synth-pop era, it is part of the evolution of the early 80 's east village sound of Suicide, Talking Heads, Material, MC5, Man Parrish and others. Delve deep into the mind of one of New York’s bellwether trendsetters and grab hold of the Moment. | | Michael Jackson Invincible CD (2001)
Karim Rashid: Newyorkelectronew CD music
$8.49 "You Rock My World" was nominated for the 2002 Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance.
The question for a 42-year-old Michael Jackson heading towards the end of 2001 was whether or not the self-proclaimed King Of Pop could make his presence known on the charts after having spent much of the '90s laying low. If the chart-topping position achieved by INVINCIBLE is any indication, then the answer is a resounding yes. The album is primarily produced by Jersey wunderkind Rodney Jerkins, and Jacko wasted no time tapping other top-flight artists and knob-twirlers to help out, including Teddy Riley, Babyface and R.Kelly.
Michael pulls out all the stops here, whether peppering the opener "Unbreakable" with his trademark falsetto and a posthumous rap from the Notorious B.I.G, or recruiting guitar great Carlos Santana to contribute some tasty playing to the Latin slow-burn of "Whatever Happens." Elsewhere, comedian Chris Tucker contributes some high speed patter to the groove-heavy, piano-driven hit single "You Rock My World," while gospel superstar ...
| | Will Downing Classique CD (2009)
Karim Rashid: Newyorkelectronew music CDs
$13.20 The title of Will Downing's 2009 effort, CLASSIQUE, produced by the artist and Rex Rideout, may be a bit misleading: it is not a compilation but a brand-spanking new collection of contemporary jazz-inflected R&B--in other words, classic Downing. The album's first single, "Something Special"--with its hand drums, loops, and slippery flute flitting around a well-placed, subtle horn section--is at its core a popping ...

Karim Rashid: Newyorkelectronew album
$9.90 Following the decadent, club-style excursions of 2008's HOTEL, Moby returns for a more contemplative sound on the melancholic WAIT FOR ME. Working through deeply personal material and a more intimate, though at times cinematic, sound palette, the album ranks as among his best in over 10 years.
Moby's most unified and understated album, and all the better ...
