In the late '80s, with bands like Guns N' Roses finding stardom with stripped-down, loud rock & roll, AC/DC couldn't have picked a better time to release BLOW UP YOUR VIDEO. The album found an extremely receptive U.S. audience, and was the band's first record to reach the top 10 since FOR THOSE ABOUT TO ROCK WE SALUTE YOU. And while it wasn't as consistent as some of the band's classic releases, BLOW UP YOUR VIDEO was easily one of the best hard rock/heavy metal releases of that time.

"That's the Way I Wanna Rock N Roll" was an instant AC/DC classic, and the raging "Heatseeker" became an eventual concert staple. Other tracks like "Go Zone," "Kissin' Dynamite," and "Some Sin for Nuthin'" were standouts as well. BLOW UP YOUR VIDEO proved to be drummer Simon Wright's final album with the band (he would leave after the ensuing tour to join Dio). BLOW UP YOUR VIDEO set the stage perfectly for AC/DC's next album, the blockbuster THE RAZOR'S EDGE.

5 stars Blows Up My Video
**** 1/2 stars is actually what I give it. Wow this is a very strange album the group has raised questions. Blow Up Your Video is stranger than For Those About To Rock. The album and sound I say is a mix of blues, hard rock, and heavy metal, including the return of what hair metal groups lacked, Rock N Roll! Now the album opens up with "Heatseeker" which is has a great opening intro and then blows up with a wicked riff. Then we get a very nice follow up with the song, "That's The Way I Wanna Rock N Roll" which has a very narwly music video to it, along with "Heatseeker". "Meanstreak" and "Go Zone" are pretty wicked with another wicked plays from Angus Young. Then we have some heavy songs like "Kissin' Dynamite", "Two's Up", and "Ruff Stuff". While "Some Sin For Nuthin'", "Nick of Time", and "This Means War" are very fast pace which rises up the tempo. Now, Blow Up Your Video is great, but what I found weird about it is the sound because the sound has a similarities with Kiss songs. Not that I'm trying to offend anyone. Because everytime I hear one of the songs, it reminds me of Kiss. Kiss is a good band too. Now Blow Up Your Video I say, is one of AC/DC's riskiest albums, because during that time, hair metal ruled the rock. Just like Ballbreaker (which was release when 2nd punk rock and grunge), the group refused to change and kept their style of blues, hard rock, and rock n roll. Still AC/DC kick@zz and I've heard they're working on a new album. Which would be great, because today, we need rock n roll!!! And fast! My favorite songs in here are "Go Zone" "Heatseeker" "That's The Way I Wanna Rock N Roll" "Ruff Stuff" "Kissin' Dynamite" and "This Means War". Yes, I do love the other songs because this is a glorious rock n roll album!!!!! ROCK ON!!!! \!!/

5 stars Last Great Album
This is AC/DC's last album in which the tracks are heavy and solid throughout. There is not one bad song on this record.

4 stars Underrated
Get the feeling that if this was called Heatseeker instead of Blow Up Your Video, it would have been a bigger commercial success. The actual title was a bit cheesy at the time, and even more so now. It's a solid album though. A bit more bluesy in spots, but the songs really do grow on you with repeated listens. Heatseeker and That's The Way I Wanna Rock n Roll really start it off in great rockin' AC/DC fashion. Meansreak and Go Zone break in more blues and are a bit slower tempo but have choruses that stick with you. Kissin Dynamite is a solid mid-tempo rocker, more like classic AC/DC. Nick of Time ups the tempo again, but it's only an average tune, not one of my favorites. The mid-tempo blues and jams return for Some Sin, Ruff Stuff (great melody) and Two's Up, kind of a classic lurid AC/DC mini-trilogy. More memorable choruses abound throughout. Then the album closes with an in your face rocker, This Means War. Good Stuff. It's not the best AC/DC album, but I actually like it more than For Those About to Rock and Ballbreaker.

4 stars very good underated disc
when i first bought this when in came out.i thought it was ok nothing special, but over the years ive come to really like it.i personally would rather this album along with fly on the wall over the razor's edge and most others that would follow. this has more of a bluesy sound then any previous brian johnson ac dc disc.heatseeker, ruff stuff, twos up and go zone are my favotite tracks on here but the others are good also.all in all a very good cd that often gets overlooked in the ac dc catalog
