After a three-year musical break, Bishop Paul S. Morton is back with a strong set of anointed songs that feature the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship Mass Choir. On the title track, Morton offers up lead vocals, but on other tunes, singers such as Desmond Pringle and Margaret Bell lend their renowned voices. Although devotion to God is still the focus of the album, LET IT RAIN edges more towards contemporary pop sounds on songs such as Lauryn Hill's "On That Day" and the energetic "Somehow." For those needing a healthy dose of lively Baptist gospel, Bishop Morton and his devoted choir present the perfect medicine for the soul.

As a former protege of gospel giant Andrae Crouch, McClurkin puts his grounding to good use with a collection of songs for all emotional seasons, from the unworthy sinner personified in "Create in Me a Clean Heart" to the uplifting encouragement of "Yes You Can." There's an example of the pastor in action live on the sanctified "Holy," while on the monumental "I'm Walking," he's even confident enough to delve into Jamaican dancehall territory.
