In This Diary
$10.15 John Paizs, director of the beloved cult film THE BIG CRIMEWAVE (aka CRIME WAVE), returned from a 15 year hiatus from feature filmmaking to direct this spoof of 1950s sci-fi. Taking stock characters from 1950s B sci-fi films and mixing them with his own peculiar dry wit and surrealist stylings, Paizs has turned in a spoof that is every bit the equal to his earlier film. The film stars Campbell Scott as Dr. Karel Lamonte, an urbane pipe-smoking scientist vacationing in the sleepy town of Exceptional Vista, where some sort of alien menace appears to be cannibalizing the locals. In true B-movie fashion, the good doctor takes it upon himself to stamp out the menace, and enlists the help of the local beauty and her somewhat deranged brother. Sly and knowing, INVASION! is an excellent sci-fi parody with a distinctly unnatural spin that is bolstered immeasurably by Mr. Scott's superb turn as Dr. Lamonte.
92 minute feature film DVD starring Campbell Scott.

| | Gravity Savior CD (2009)
In This Diary
$8.55 Gravity music is an intense journey into the emotions that humanity experiences. Within it lurks love, hate, alienation, sexuality, frustration, loneliness, and desire, just to name a few, that are expressed both musically and lyrically. Gravity believes that music and melody needs to convey the message as much as the singing and lyrics do, and they often combine to pack a one two punch. Gravity is a "Listening Experience" more than it is anything else.Gravity is a male/female duo with no confining genre. While the music is dark and can be loosely put into the Goth Rock category, it often strays from that while maintaining it's darker tones. Gravity origins began as the brainchild of Norman (Figueroa) Dehm. First known as A Candlelight Ghost, the act went on the road in the early nineties playing to Goth/Alternative audiences. Later, going solo with the project, and renaming it Gravity, lead to many years of isolated experimentation and refinement of a sound unlike any other. Recently brought aboard was the vocal and musical talent of Sarah Choszczyk, taking the music in a new direction while maintaining its roots, and adding power to the vocals. And what are those roots you ask? It’s broad and eclectic. Early influences come from Pink Floyd, Scorpions, The Cure, Fields of the Nephilim, the New Wave/80's era, and Beethoven. Later influences include the likes of Tool, Portishead, Static X, trance/techno, Nine Inch Nails, Dead Can Dance, and cinematic styles of music such as Danny Elfman. Does Gravity sound like any of those artists? Not really! People often ask what Gravity sounds like and a good answer doesn't exist. It's very hard to compare but it is most of the time dark, rhythmic, powerful, and emotionally packed. Gravity's main musical philosophy is originality. If it sounds too much at all like another band, the song will get scrapped. Gravity experiments with the arrangements and often breaks with convention within the pop/rock concept. If you are looking for a new sound… Jump in and let Gravity do the rest.Gravity [grav-i-tee]-noun, plural -ties. 1.the force of attraction by which terrestrial bodies tend to fall toward the center of the earth. 2.heaviness or weight.3.gravitation in general.4.Acceleration of Gravity.5.a unit of acceleration equal to the acceleration of gravity. Symbol: g6.serious or critical nature: He seemed to ignore the gravity of his illness.7.serious or dignified behavior; dignity; solemnity: to preserve one's gravity.8.lowness in pitch, as of sounds. Origin: 1500-10; < L gravitat- (s. of gravitas) heaviness, equiv. to grav(is) heavy, GRAVE 2 + -itat- -ITY
