Music At The Gates With Fear I Kiss The Burning Darkness. Songs With Fear I Kiss The Burning Darkness. Music Review Average Rating: (4 out of 5 stars) one of the greatest melodic death metal albums i am not a big fan of melodic death bands like soilwork, in flames, and arch enemy as i feel none of these bands maintain the raw energy and sheer beauty of at the gates second album, with fear i kiss the burning darkness.
this album surpasses their first release the red sky is ours in terms of musician-ship and strength.
while their first album was very technical this album helped to pioneer the gothenburg sound, with its well thought out melodies and truely harrowing vocals.
the drums are pretty basic with some nice rhythms and a few blastbeats here and there, but what stands out on this album is the guitar and vocal work.
the guitars have a lot of melodies but unlike the aforementioned bands, at the gates use their melodies to retain the heavyness found in death metal, listen to the break of autumn and primal breath for some hair raising guitar work.
i listen to various forms of metal ranging from grincore, deathgrind, noisecore, and metalcore and i have pretty much heard all the best vocal work metal has to offer and although tomas lindberg from ATG is nowhere near the most extreme, i feel he is one of the best due to the chilling emotionally drained shriek he uses which raises hairs on the back of your neck.
and if your wonderng why am reviewing this album NOW its because i cant believe nobody else has reviewed one of the greatest extreme metal albums of all time.
and remember NO album could ever be perfect hence the four stars Submitted by criminall_insane (london UK) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

With Fear I Kiss The Burning Darkness.
$16.45 LORENSPIRIT and TRUTH, Chapters I & IIScheduled Release: May 29, 2007When asked to differentiate his current project from those he has done in the past, Loren says, “My whole approach to writing and producing has changed since my first solo release “I’ll Meet You There” (1993) and the follow up “In His Shadow” (2000). “Spirit and Truth” is a project that is much more interactive, leaning heavily on the praise and worship stylings that have become a staple in contemporary church services. What we have created on this project is a collection of songs that we hope will be sung bycongregations long after our tour comes to town.”While music has always been a big part of his life, it is only one of Loren’s many endeavors. An attorney by trade, Loren is a tenured professor at the Middle Tennessee State University, where he teaches Copyright Law, Legal Problems in the Recording Industry, Survey of the Recording Industry, and Commercial Songwriting in the nation’s leading Recording Industry program. He is also an adjunct professor at Oakwood College where he teaches Business Law and Organizational Ethics. On “Spirit and Truth” this multi-talented fellow who was called a “renaissance man” by Billboard Magazine, has delivered a project that has appeal for every age, gender, and racial demographic. “I became the praise and worship leader at my home church two years ago and the experience has really altered my approach to music ministry,” says Loren, who serves as Minister of Music at Hillcrest S.D.A. Church in Nashville, Tennessee. “Much of this album was written and produced with the church worship service in mind.” The songs range from exuberant praise songs…to contemplative songs of worship…to traditional hymns arranged to expose listeners to Loren’s voice in a fluid unadorned soundscape. On the first release from his newly launched indie label, Blackstone Records, Loren leaves no room for musical dissatisfaction. “I have been touring and singing for church audiences since I was a teenager and I have a good feel for what the church audience looks like,” he explains. “This album will be attractive to the kids, the young adults, the contemporary-leaning praise and worshippers, and the more conservative older listeners.”The song list on this stylistically balanced set includes the singles “He NeverChanges”, a bouncy praise song that includes a special guest vocal that is guaranteed to bring a smile to your face. The Latin Caribbean vibe of “My Soul Desires You” promises to be a favorite for listeners above and below the equator. This catchy hook will have you singing long after the song is done. “The Lord’s Prayer” uses a unique minimalist ...
