Much like 1997's Somewhere out in Space, this is a concept album. This time out, former Helloween leader Kai Hansen's band buys into the themes presented by author Mark Brauneis, a conspiracy nut whose tales of the all-powerful Illuminati go directly into No World Order. Musically, the band gets back to Hansen's NWOBHM roots a shade more than in the past, eschewing ornate prog metal for basic riffing and songwriting that evokes ancient Queensrÿche and primal Judas Priest ("Solid" is a virtual reworking of "Rapid Fire"). It's a step back that works for the band, one that's sure to please old school metal fans who have not had new material of this quality and ilk in some time. ~ Brian O'Neill
Recorded at Hansen Studios, Hamburg, Germany.
Gamma Ray: Kai Hansen (vocals, guitar); Henjo Richter (guitar, keyboards); Dirk Schlachter (bass); Daniel Zimmermann (drums).
Producers: Kai Hansen, Dirk Schlachter, Gamma Ray.

My favorite Gamma Ray album This album is incredible!!! Every song is awesome!!! Heaven Or Hell is my favorite song from this album. This album seems a bit more heavy metal style than power metal style but it's definitely got the Gamma Ray style and sound!!! Submitted by Mark (Laguna Niguel CA USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

No World Order album
$6.79 Judas Priest's 1990 release, PAINKILLER, shows the band returning to ferocious metal after such musical detours as 1986's TURBO. It also proved to be the British band's last outing with original singer Rob Halford. Drummer Scott Travis (ex-Racer X) makes his Priest debut here, while the sound and songwriting is comparable to thrash/speed metal.
The album-opening title track is one of Priest's heaviest and greatest songs (brace yourself before it kicks in!), and the band takes no prisoners on such titles as "Hell Patrol" and "A Touch of Evil." An inspired way to close out Halford-era Priest.
At the dawn of the '90s, Judas Priest were in sad shape: out of touch, seemingly creatively bankrupt, ...

No World Order CD music
$11.69 When Say Hi to Your Mom released his brilliantly titled third disc, Ferocious Mopes, the sensitive-indie-guy-recording-from-his-bedroom thing had been done to death. So had well-intentioned tinkerings with the Omaha sound of Conor Oberst. Nevertheless, what Say Hi offers here is just froot loops enough to skirt cliché charges. The ten song titles say it all -- after puzzling over "Poor Pete Is a Bit Self Conscious," "As Smart as Geek Is Chic Right Now," and "I Think I'll Be a Good Ghost," it's easy to wonder whether Say Hi might be using music to pay the bills until he finds a way to make money off his real gift for naming things. Indulging that thought, though, puts a listener at risk of being overly dismissive of the music, which is overall quite good. Morrissey's dark mood colors the entire outing (fitting for a disc called Ferocious Mopes), but shades of Death Cab for Cutie's smart pop filter through, and so does Conor Oberst's sing-softly-into-a-tin-can ...
