Of the many issues of historic performance to surface in the last few years, this ranks near the top. Fine transfers of a great conductor in repertoire that shows him at his best. Unlike many issues, this one does not duplicate others, so even the most rabid collector is unlikely to own these recordings on CD. Buy this with confidence. The price is also good. Kudos to DG!
