| | Marco Antonio Solis Tu Amor O Tu Desprecio CD (2003)
Tus Favoritas De Pesado
$9.55 Ever since he started the legendary Mexican pop group Los Bukis in the '70s, singer/songwriter Marco Antonio Solis has been at the forefront of the Mexican music scene. His countless successful solo albums have made him a musical hearthrob on the order of Julio Iglesias, a romantic balladeer with passion (and songwriting skills) to burn. To his credit, Solis never takes it too far over the top, preferring to let his gorgeous voice lilt gently over the melody, expressing emotion without throwing it in your face. In this respect, one might compare him to a 21st century Freddy Fender, lending his lovely tones to heart-rending Mexican-tinged pop for maximum effect on TU AMOR O TU DESPRECIO.
TU AMOR O TU DESPRECIO includes a bonus poster.
Recorded at Watersound Studios, Studio City, California.
Personnel includes: Marco Antonia Solis (vocals, harmonica); ...

Tus Favoritas De Pesado
$10.29 The experimental, progressive, rock unit from Erlanger, KY have now released their 2nd record in 10 months on Northern KY's SONA Records. The new "self-titled" LP clocks in at 68mins and never lets the listener lose interest. This record shows off "the quartet's perpetual shell game of instrument trading" in such an impressive manner that it will be "a hypnotic trip you'll be eager to repeat." (Cincinnati City Beat) The live show is almost always accompanied by some intriguing visuals that help to create a sort of "artistry in motion" atmosphere. Not surprisingly they have contributed to several indie film soundtracks and have performed for many art openings and film festivals. This versatile act is sure not to disappoint in any setting.Members:Matt OgdenAndy PerkinsKevin PooleJoe Thompson"Just as Jazz experimenters drew on instruments and techniques from the popular styles of their day, 24hourflu uses the Indie and Electronica sounds of the last decade as a palette to paint a path into the unlit territory beyond the limits of traditional music.""Melodies and textures are explored and then left behind ...
| | Stan Getz Smoothest Operatror CDs (2007) (Import) Box Set; United Kingdom
Tus Favoritas De Pesado
$26.79 THE SMOOTHEST OPERATOR is a four-disc box set that collects tracks from the early part of Stan Getz's career. The box is in no way comprehensive (there's none of the man's famous bossa nova work, for example), but the transfers, not to mention the music itself, are all of a high caliber. It's particularly interesting to hear Getz develop from a straightforward bebop player to a uniquely individual stylist of high lyricism, and the 98 cuts here give the listener ample opportunity to do so. Well compiled, THE SMOOTHEST OPERATOR is a great one-shop stop for collecting a generous cross-section of Getz's early work.
Personnel: Stan Getz (tenor saxophone); Junior Parker (vocals); Jimmy Raney, Johnny Smith (guitar); Al Epstein, Allan Eager, Al Cohn, Zoot Sims, Brew Moore (tenor saxophone); Lars Gullin (baritone saxophone); Norman Faye (trumpet); Earl Swope (trombone); Walter Bishop, Henry 'Hank' Jones, Sandford Gold, Tony Aless, Duke Jordan, Horace Silver, Al Haig (piano); Gunnar Johnson, Dillon 'Curley' Russell, Joe Calloway, Yngve Akerberg, Eddie Safranski, Gene Ramey, Leonard Gaskin, Percy Heath, Teddy Kotick, Tommy Potter, Bill Crow, Clyde Lombardi, Bob Carter, Mert Oliver (bass guitar); Frank Isola, Charles Perry, ...
