An intense surge of post-hardcore, the long-awaited follow-up to On the Might Of Princes' successful Where You Are and Where You Want to Be is more exploratory, but just as dynamic and emotional. The Long Island quartet focuses less on singalong, quiet-then-loud personal anthems, and more on developing their complex arrangements and fierce delivery. Produced with Garrison's Ethan Dussault in ten days, it's also the first time all four members collaborated on just about every song. They go from roaring cascades to interweaving breakdowns, always with plenty of harmonic guitar and caustic vocals from Jason Rosenthal. The latter especially comes through on the walloping "You Whistle, I'll Shoot," with hefty drums by Chris Enriquez. "Here Come the Sirens" builds up and then explodes into post-hardcore heaven. The lyrics to these piercing pieces evoke much sorrow: "amongst the tide we are insignificant/drowned by our discontent in a life still stagnant" they lament on "The Swell and the Breaking." Heavy stuff. ~ Kenyon Hopkin

Siren Swan Song Great stuff. A nice blend of introspective passages and solid post-whatever riffery. Different sections remind me of The Paper Chase, Me Without You and Drowningman. Highly reccomended for those who like their post-hc with brains as well as brawn. Submitted by ntrprofit (Notts, UK) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo
OTMOP This cd is frankly amazing...but if you have never seen this band live...then you will never even be able to fathom how great of a band they really are Submitted by Jetflyer720 (Miller Place, NY, USA) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo
very cool This is excellent. The drums are great, the songs are epic journeys through exasperation... there is probably a better way to descrivbe this cd... This is worth the listen and complex enough to enjoy over a period of time. Submitted by Shane (Seattle, WA) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo
Amazing.. This is one of the best albums I have ever heard. I can't imagine any way that this could possibly be any better. My favourites on this album are "Here come the sirens", "They have teeth", "Go f*ck yrself", and "Cloak and Dagger". But really every song on here is perfect. BUY THIS NOW. It will be the best $10 you've ever spent. Submitted by shiznit (Australia) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo
*****A FULL-BODIED SONIC ASSAULT THAT TRULY DELIVERS***** This is On The Might Of Princes' third full-length release, truly a masterpiece collection of songs, atmospheric instrumentals, and post-hardcore influenced, innovative rock. Sirens was recorded at famed New Alliance Studio in Boston, MA (Cave In, ISIS). Since their inception, from Long Island, NY, in 1998, On The Might Of Princes are an absolutely amazing live band that has managed on this cd to seamlessly blend melody and technical proficiency with dramatic guitar progressions, incredibly dynamic drumming, introspective lyrics, and completely hypnotic, intoxicating from-fragile-to-screaming vocals. Their sound is chaotic, melodic, urgent, and beautiful all at once. I highly recommend this, it won't leave your cd player any time soon.
