Mechanical Royalty album
$12.25 While Edan's critically acclaimed debut, 'Primitive Plus', was a celebration of Hip-hop's golden age and a true throwback, his sophomore album, 'Beauty And The Beat', is a vast musical collage that includes many different influences; Hip-hop, rock, pop, dusty breaks, hazy loops, luxurious off-kilter samples and curveball tempo changes ...
| | Jackson 5 Ultimate Collection CD (1996)
Mechanical Royalty CD music
$13.69 All of the tracks on THE ULTIMATE COLLECTION are taken from the Jackson 5 box-set SOULSATION!: THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY COLLECTION (Motown 530 489), except "It's Your Thing (The J5 In '95 Extended Remix)."
Busting out of Gary, Indiana in 1968, the Jackson Five became a phenomenally successful crossover group for Motown Records. Their four consecutive Number One records, "I Want You Back," "ABC," "The Love You Save," and "I'll Be There," are all included here. With matching psychedelic outfits, a compelling blend of commercial soul and funk, and Michael Jackson's heartfelt homage to Jackie Wilson's stylings, they were top sellers throughout the early '70s.
This collection covers only the Motown years (a second rebirth as the Jacksons occurred when they switched labels to Epic in 1976), but it's rich in their early brilliance. A shaking cover of the Isley Brothers' hit "It's Your Thing" shows just how funky the boys can get. The group's many hits, such as "Mama's Pearl," "Maybe Tomorrow," and "Sugar Daddy," produced by Berry Gordy and the four man writing/producing team known as The Corporation, are also featured. The nascent stirrings of Michael's solo career are represented by "Got to Be There" and "Rockin' Robin." Also noteworthy is 1974's "Dancing Machine," ...
| | Michael Jackson Thriller CD (2008) Zombie cover
Mechanical Royalty music CDs
$18.05 The finest example of perfect disco pop, and a record that should be prescribed to musical snobs and manic depressives. The album is a true ambassador of what pop music can be. Jackson whoops and dances through a suite of unforgettable melodies that should be danced to with a smile on your face. Each track offers at least one musical hook, whether it is the beauty of 'Human Nature' (who can resist the 'dada dada da da da') or the 'whoo whoo' of 'Billie Jean'. It's all too good.
The 25th Anniversary Edition of Thriller DVD/CD set celebrates this ground-breaking album with 8 bonus tracks, 5 of which are previously unreleased. The new tracks include exclusive remixes from Kanye West, Akon, and will.i.am along with a previously unreleased track from the Thriller sessions, newly mixed and mastered by Michael Jackson. The DVD includes new, upgraded editions of the 3 videos from the album as well as Michael performing on the Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever 1983 TV special.
Principally recorded at Westlake Audio, Los Angeles, California.
Personnel includes: Michael Jackson (vocals, percussion); Paul McCartney (vocals); Vincent Price (spoken vocals); ...
| | Michael Jackson Bad CD (1987) Bonus Tracks; Remastered; Special Edition
Mechanical Royalty songs
$10.39 Digitally remastered by Bernie Grundman (Bernie Grundman Mastering, Los Angeles, California).
Jackson's domination of the world record market continued following Thriller, although by comparison it was an almighty flop with only 12 million sales. As Pink Floyd and Dire Straits have proved, one album can go completely sales haywire without necessarily being any better. The title track and the gorgeous "Man In The Mirror" were substantial hits, but quality material such as "Dirty Diana" and "Liberian Girl" bolster a strong album. Jackson also seemed to have found the romance he seeks in "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" and "The Way You Make Me Feel." Regardless of his press, history clearly shows that he has made a lot of people very, very happy.
Additional Tracks
Recorded at Westlake Audio Studios, Los Angeles, California. Originally released on Epic (40600).
Personnel includes: Michael Jackson (vocals); Stevie Wonder (vocals, keyboards); The Winans (vocals); David Williams, Eric Gale, Steve ...
| | Michael Jackson Number Ones CD (2003)
Mechanical Royalty album
$10.65 The 1990s may not have been kind to Michael Jackson on a commercial level, due to fickle music tastes and assorted personal controversies, but NUMBER ONES reinforces Jackson's place in pop culture history. Unlike its preceding compilation, HIStory, this anthology trims the fat, although occasionally going overboard in leaving off certified chart-toppers like the Paul McCartney duet "Say Say Say" in lieu of lesser-known, latter-day fare like "Earth Song."
That said, casual fans of the Gloved One will still feast on plenty, ranging from dance classics like "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" and "Rock with You" from 1979's stellar OFF THE WALL to the singles that powered the industry-shifting THRILLER and BAD. Among the hits featured here are "Beat It," (with its tour de force Eddie ...
