That's It
$9.45 Horace Silver turned to his unique heritage for inspiration on THE CAPE VERDEAN BLUES, a classic mid '60s Blue Note date from the master of funky Latin-tinged jazz. His father hailed from the Cape Verdean islands, and he had exposed his son to the beauty of his native music when the pianist was just a boy. Silver uses that spicy island flavor for several of BLUES' finger-popping tunes. As a bonus, trombone great J.J. Johnson augments Silver's quintet for the second half of the date, creating a staggering front line that also includes Woody Shaw and Joe Henderson.
The title track, one of the most danceable tunes in Silver's repertoire, captures the celebratory flavor of Cape Verdean music and sets all toes tapping right from the start. The pace changes with "The African Queen," the group ...

That's It
$9.59 This excellent 1966 set features a diverse range of ensembles, all lead by trumpeter Freddie Hubbard. The first is an octet, featuring congas and a euphonium; the second, a seven-member group, including the great McCoy Tyner on piano; the third is a sextet that boasts drummer Elvin Jones and Herbie Hancock (who doubles on piano and celeste). James Spaulding lends his alto sax and flute to two of the groups, and Joe Henderson is in two as well (his melodic, yet adventurous, tenor sax playing is especially notable). Also featured are tenor player Hank Mobley, bassist Reggie Workman, pianist ...

That's It
$18.99 Well this is a good time to introduce myself! My full name is Richard Edward Cameron and I was born and raised in Toronto, Ont. Canada. I met a wonderful woman by the name of, Anja, who was born in Holland. She is a wonderful Christian lady and she led me to the Lord. I am truly grateful for all the help and support she has given to me over the years. Since meeting her, we moved to a small town in Ontario called, Northbrook. It was just before we moved there that I gave my heart to the Lord. I started going to church with her and one Sunday while everyone was singing beautiful worship songs, my arms went up and tears streamed down my face. I knew then and there that my heart belonged to God. Shortly after moving to Northbrook, God, started giving me songs. Now trust me, I can't write songs no matter how hard I try! I would never consider myself a songwriter but with the guidance and inspiration of the Lord, anything is possible. The first song I wrote was, 'If Jesus Came to Your House'. The words and music came just like that. It was amazing! I would have to write it down and chord it as soon as I could or it would be gone. One of the songs on my CD was written while sitting in church. The pastor noticed I was writing and just as he was wrapping up his sermon... I was able to close the service with that very song! And so it goes... Jesus loves me. I faced some difficult times over the last few years. The good Lord helped me through a heart attack and some very major surgery. It was a miracle. I couldn't walk but just before I went into the hospital, the good Lord let me know that everything would be okay. No...he didn't talk to me as some people say, he just let me know that everything would be fine and exactly what would take place. The doctor said that my back was full of arthritis and he was going to operate in hopes of keeping me out of a wheel chair. That was the best he could promise. I said to him that the good Lord let me know this. "Doctor, you operate Friday, I walk Saturday and I'm ...
