With Adam Lambert, American Idol finally got a finalist who was completely, utterly contemporary, aware of what's hip in music and culture and aware of how music is made and consumed in 2009, never seeming to try to follow fads or set trends, just embodying the time. Al Nathan - aka Luther Crenshaw - has been music teacher in the Utica School District, since 1973. He also attended Berklee School of Music and worked the Boston music scene throughout the late 60's and 70's. He returned to the central NY in the early 80's and now plays frequently in Utica, Syracuse, and the Adirondacks. Al also owns and operates Nathan's Bakery in Old Forge, where people come to eat bagels, drink coffee and listen to blues music (this served as the inspiration for one of the songs on BlueStreak's new CD - "Blues and Black Coffee"). BlueStreak is Al Nathan (keyboards and vocals), John Hutson (guitar and vocals), Darryl Mattison (drums, percussion and vocal ideas) and Dan Porter (bass and vocals).
