Although they've often been compared to their slightly older Seattle cousins, Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots were quite capable of creating their own sound, and this retrospective offers the proof. THANK YOU opens with the hard-charging "Vasoline" followed by "Down," a thick slab of Black Sabbath-like riffery. Though the grunge references of hits like the stomping "Wicked Garden" and the bizarrely catchy "Plush" are undeniable, STP come into their own on tunes from their second and third albums, PURPLE and TINY MUSICāSONGS FROM THE VATICAN GIFT SHOP. Ambitious tracks from these outings include the restlessly rocking "Interstate Love Song," the blues-based anthem "Big Empty," the new wave/punk-influenced "Big Bang Baby," and the energetic "Trippin' in a Hole in a Paper Heart." Despite a legacy tainted by singer Scott Weiland's drug problems, THANK YOU proudly displays how Stone Temple Pilots melded classic pop, metal, and grunge into a sound that garnered them a huge audience.

Rolling Stone (12/11/03, p.208) - 4 stars out of 5 - "...The constants: Weiland's brawny shape-shifting vocals, Dean DeLeo's flashy guitar heroics, Eric Kretz's mastodon stomp and the band's collective pop smarts..." S T P 4 Eva All the radio hits are here, along with a few others. I have all the Albums, but still found myself buying this GH. People, if you do not know about STP, where the BLEEP were you in the nineties? I remember waiting for the bus to come, and watching MTV in the Morn (back when they played videos) and there always seemed to be an STP video up on there. They rocked it, simple as that. Good greatest hits album Ive recently found out of Stone Temple Pilots and Im sorry that I havent found out about them earlier. Im still a huge alt/grunge fan growing up in the 90's and this has got to be one of the best ive heard. Sure its a little more smoother and refined than Nirvana or Pearl Jam, but in this case its a good thing. All the songs are sung very well and the sound is just amazing. I would recommend this to any grunge fan out there. Submitted by cerebralocelot (CA, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Thank You for the memories and the music 'Thank You' is a more than just a greatest hits ablum ... it's a tribute to the greatest band, in my opinion, to come out of rock 'n roll in the last 20 years. Submitted by Brian (Santa Barbara, CA, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Thank You album
$6.69 Digitally remastered by Stephen Marcussen (Marcussen Mastering, Los Angeles, California).
This is a multi-channel Super Audio CD playable only on Super Audio CD players.
MIA for the latter half of the '90s and into the new millennium, Alice In Chains added GREATEST HITS to the list of seemingly posthumous releases in a canon whose last studio album was a 1995 self-titled release. This bare-bones 10-song sampler does serve as a quick overview for neophytes interested in one of the seminal bands to emerge from a generation of grunge ...
| | Velvet Revolver Contraband CD (2004)
Thank You CD music
$8.99 "Sucker Train Blues" roars out of the starting block, rocking like there's no tomorrow, with Weiland's seething vocals riding the six-string whirlwind generated by guitar supremo Slash and his new sidekick Dave Kushner. "Big Machine," with its doubtlessly autobiographical storyline about the pitfalls of stardom, melds the ring of ...
| | Green Day American Idiot CD (2004)
Thank You music CDs
$12.99 Rock opera and punk are usually two mutually exclusive musical styles. Then again, Green Day has never followed any rock rulebook, so it's not entirely surprising that the trio crafted a punk-rock opera that takes the Bush administration and its policies to task. ...
| | Pearl Jam Rearviewmirror: Greatest Hits 1991-2003 CDs (2004)
Thank You songs
$12.09 Unquestionably one of the biggest rock bands of the 1990s, Pearl Jam, in many ways, were the star students of the grunge class. Though they didn't have the defiant, punk attitude of Nirvana nor the we-love-Sabbath metal edge of Soundgarden, the quintet found a huge audience for their relatively straightforward rock, thanks, in large part, to frontman Eddie Vedder's intense persona and distinctive vocals. As the band grew to resent their success, their music became intentionally less accessible (and often more intriguing), and while their peers folded, Pearl Jam found themselves ...
| | Harp Blues CD (1999)
Thank You album
$14.55 This 25-track collection brings together some of the most inspiring blues harp performances on record. With the exception of John Lee "Sonny Boy" Williamson's "Bring Me Another Half a Pint" (what's better known as Jimmy Rogers' "Sloppy Drunk" and originally penned even earlier by Lucille Bogan) from 1948, everything on here was recorded in the '50s to the late '60s at the height of the electric blues boom. Representative and sometimes definitive performances from Big Walter Horton ("Easy," "Need My Baby" and the solo on Jimmy Rogers' ...
| | Johnnie Taylor Who's Making Love... CD (1968)
Thank You CD music
$16.45 WHO'S MAKING LOVE... JOHNNIE TAYLOR is a budget-priced release by Stax artist Johnnie Taylor, including "Who's Making Love," "I'm Not The Same Person," and "Hold On This Time."
Former preacher Johnnie Taylor had already recorded a few songs on Sam Cooke's SAR label before he signed with Stax and released his first solo LP in 1966. Two years later the man called "the Philosopher of Soul" hit the top of the R&B charts with his breakthrough album, WHO'S MAKING LOVE. Produced by Al Jackson and Don Davis, WHO'S MAKING LOVE mixes elements of gospel-influenced blues and soul, while Johnnie's impassioned preacher-at-the-pulpit vocals tell tales of love and pain, romance gone wrong, suspicion, and jealousy. This inspired sophomore effort heralded the arrival of an exceptional solo singer and marked the beginning of a string of successes with Stax that would make Johnnie Taylor the label's all-time highest selling artist.
The song "Who's Making Love?" was among Johnnie Taylor's ...
