Tennessee Ernie Ford Spirituals Songs Spirituals Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) A long lost friend I had the original LP at a time when we were first married. It was stolen by a burglar some 10 years ago together with another 200 LP's.
I've looked for it for a long time, and luckily a CD of the same lost friend is now in my possession. It will NOT leave again !!! Submitted by ronald.barnes2008 (Marsh Lane, Derbyshire, ENGLAND) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Beloved since childhood I first heard the vinyl version of this album 40 years ago - maybe more - and it became and has remained one of my favorites.
Tennessee Ernie Ford performs with wit, humor, deep emotion, and unerring interpretation as he sings these great songs of faith.
This album comes from a time when music had melody, harmony, intonation, and clarity.
His "Noah Found Grace in the Eyes of the Lord" is the best version of that spiritual I have heard. Tennessee Ernie had the good sense to know that "Ham, Shem, and Japheth" were the sons of Noah. Some recorded versions of the song say "take a handshave and shave" -- a reflection of ignorance of biblical proportions.
If you love the old hymns, you can't miss with this album. Submitted by Mike (Kinston, NC) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
The best albums of spirituals! I received this record album for Christmas when I was in the 6th grade, and I have cherished it ever since. I have never heard an album worth of spirtuals that I have enjoyed like this one. Its humorous in places, upbeat and very spiritual at the same time. For any fan of Tennessee Ernie Ford, you just gotta have this! Submitted by johnacarolyne (Dallas, Texas) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Spirituals CD music
$10.09 With their beautiful harmony vocals and gentle melodies, Peter, Paul & Mary were the most popular folk act of the 1960s. While Bob Dylan was unquestionably the genre's most influential and revered performer by the mid-1960s, it was Peter Yarrow, Noel Paul Stookey, and Mary Travers who helped him to reach a larger audience with their accessible '63 renditions of his "Blowin' in the Wind" and "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right." In addition to Dylan, the ...

Spirituals music CDs
$14.89 EARLY DAWG documents the early music of David Grisman, representing both his traditional bluegrass roots and the beginnings of "Dawg Music."
Long before he developed his unique style of "Dawg Music," mandolinist David Grisman was steeped in bluegrass, though he was even stretching its conceived boundaries early in his professional career. This album combines live recordings ...
| | Bela Fleck Bluegrass Sessions: Tales From The Acoustic Planet Vol. 2 CD (1999)
Spirituals songs
$8.75 Banjo master Bela Fleck takes a time-out of sorts from the dizzying NewGrass/Jazz-Country-Funk fusion for which he has become famous and returns to his bluegrass roots. THE BLUEGRASS SESSIONS: TALES FROM THE ACOUSTIC PLANET, VOLUME 2 runs the gamut from the humorous, old-time "Polka on the Banjo" (lead vocal by John Hartford) to the straight-ahead bluegrass of "Ode to Earl" (Scruggs, that is, the legendary banjoist). In the mysterious and beautiful "Katmandu," the music of the hills of Kentucky meets that of the hills of Asia. "Spanish Point" is the most Flecktones-sounding tune. This album, which contains fine contributions from Tony Rice, Vassar Clements, and Jerry Douglas, should appeal to the more adventurous bluegrass fan.
