The reviewers tell us what to buy, but the public actually part with the cash. Surely 26 million people cannot be wrong, as original Mac guitarist Peter Green's creation became the prime example of AOR long after his departure. The inner strife and turmoil of the band is credited as having helped to make this many-headed beast into such a success. Keyboardist Christine McVie sparred with husband/bassist John, and singer Stevie Nicks scrapped with boyfriend/guitarist Lindsey Buckingham. Drummer Mick Fleetwood held the emotional mess together with confident steadiness as demonstrated in his confident, inventive playing throughout the record. Nicks' fiery vocals on "Go Your Own Way" complemented McVie's beautifully understated style on tunes like "You Make Loving Fun," exemplifying their successful fire-ice dichotomy.
Includes liner notes by Dave DiMartino.

It is still one of my favorite albums. I have to say I was a little disappointed when I first listened to “Rumours”. If you read the liner notes, they cut the “Fleetwood Mac” album in three months. “Rumours” took much longer, mainly because they didn’t like the first take and stripped all the instruments but the drum tracks and started over. They did so much overdubbing that the master tapes were beginning to wear out. That’s probably why I didn’t like the album, too much “studio”. What’s included here on the second disk is virtually the entire album repeated and described as “Roughs and Outtakes”. I’m assuming these are the first takes that were rejected. Personally, for the most part, I like them better. They show more of the bands raw talent as musicians and song writers. It reminds me of the first album that I love so much. These five members of Fleetwood Mac blend perfectly. I never really cared much for any other combination. The band without any one of these five is just not complete. I wish they would have recognized and respected that and been able to produce more material. Bands that achieve that sort of magical quality are rare indeed. Smooth Grooves What can you say about this band that hasn't already been said. I've been waiting a long time for the "Mac" remasters to come out and now the time is here. Plus, you get the added bonus tracks which make for even more cool listening. Submitted by dewey (Evansville, IN) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Nice to have I love Rumours, and i was excited to hear a special edition was coming out. There are enough extra songs to make it worth the purchase price, but it's not anything spectacular or revelatory. Why they stuck the single "Silver Springs" in the middle of the original album i'll never know. Submitted by mdschill (Philly) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Great repackage of a classic The liner notes alone are worth the price of this CD. If you are a Fleetwood Mac fan this is a must have for your collection. The extra cd is a wonderful insight into how these classic songs became the hits that they are! Submitted by wildheart (Danville, VA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

| | Neil Young On The Beach CD (1974) Remastered
Rumours CD music
$8.49 After working his way through loss and chaos on the brilliant TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT (recorded in 1973, but not released until 1975), Neil Young deftly exorcised any lingering demons with 1974's ON THE BEACH. The album opens with the saunter of the aptly titled "Walk On," followed by the utterly gorgeous, Wurlitzer-tinged "See the Sky about to Rain."
The set also features a trio of scathing songs--"Revolution Blues," "Vampire Blues," and "Ambulance Blues"--that address issues important to Young, both social and personal. It is good to hear Young back with such bite and vitriol, especially after the broken desperation of TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT. ...

No home should be without at least one copy of TUSK. Fleetwood Mac's magnum opus of 1979 is considered by some to be their greatest work. And while you are probably familiar with the hits, you may not realize that this recording is full of gems like Christine McVie's gorgeous "Brown Eyes" and Lindsey Buckingham's rousing and infectious "I Know I'm Not Wrong." Of course, even the Nikei industrial average would sound beautiful if it were sung ...

| | Chuck Pyle Camel Rock CD (1995)
Rumours songs
$20.25 TO SOME, singer/songwriter Chuck Pyle is a walking contradiction. One reviewer labeled him "the Zen Cowboy" for his delightful but seemingly at-odds mix of upbeat New Age humor and straight-from-the-saddle poetry. Deciding to, as he says, "ride the horse in the direction it's going," Chuck has taken the nickname to heart, shaving his head and blending Zen truisms with horse sense. His music mixes western themes, folk, rock, cowboy poetry and new age humor into his own unique "Southwestern Acoustic" sound. The songs are at once complex and enchantingly funny. He compresses a story to its very essence, quoting bumper stickers, proverbs, world ...
