The reviewers tell us what to buy, but the public actually part with the cash. Surely 26 million people cannot be wrong, as original Mac guitarist Peter Green's creation became the prime example of AOR long after his departure. The inner strife and turmoil of the band is credited as having helped to make this many-headed beast into such a success. Keyboardist Christine McVie sparred with husband/bassist John, and singer Stevie Nicks scrapped with boyfriend/guitarist Lindsey Buckingham. Drummer Mick Fleetwood held the emotional mess together with confident steadiness as demonstrated in his confident, inventive playing throughout the record. Nicks' fiery vocals on "Go Your Own Way" complemented McVie's beautifully understated style on tunes like "You Make Loving Fun," exemplifying their successful fire-ice dichotomy.

Fleetwood Mac - Rumours Songs
Rumours Music Review
Average Rating: (4.7 out of 5 stars) List All 27 Reviews Nice to have I love Rumours, and i was excited to hear a special edition was coming out. There are enough extra songs to make it worth the purchase price, but it's not anything spectacular or revelatory. Why they stuck the single "Silver Springs" in the middle of the original album i'll never know. Submitted by mdschill (Philly) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 2 of 3 found this helpful.
More Like the Previous I bought the previous album, “Fleetwood Mac” shortly after it came out (yea I’m old), and I loved it. It is still one of my favorite albums. I have to say I was a little disappointed when I first listened to “Rumours”. If you read the liner notes, they cut the “Fleetwood Mac” album in three months. “Rumours” took much longer, mainly because they didn’t like the first take and stripped all the instruments but the drum tracks and started over. They did so much overdubbing that the master tapes were beginning to wear out. That’s probably why I didn’t like the album, too much “studio”. What’s included here on the second disk is virtually the entire album repeated and described as “Roughs and Outtakes”. I’m assuming these are the first takes that were rejected. Personally, for the most part, I like them better. They show more of the bands raw talent as musicians and song writers. It reminds me of the first album that I love so much. These five members of Fleetwood Mac blend perfectly. I never really cared much for any other combination. The band without any one of these five is just not complete. I wish they would have recognized and respected that and been able to produce more material. Bands that achieve that sort of magical quality are rare indeed. A Must Have! A must have in your collection,or any collection. The remastering on this is outstanding. Was like hearing again for the first time. And "they" finally added Silver Springs where it belongs!
The second Disc and all those outtakes are as good if not better than the first disc. If you don't have this disc, What are you waiting for? Submitted by Mike (Gray, ME, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
