LEGEND contains musiuc composed for the BBC television show "Robin Of Sherwood."
Clannad started out like many traditional folk bands of Ireland; its early material for Gael-Linn Records could be considered traditional Irish folk, and most of the lyrics were in Irish. However, the band's signing to RCA Records and its 1982 hit "Theme From Harry's Game" catapulted it to the top of the UK pop charts. Most importantly, Clannad was one of the first Irish bands to truly delve into ambient music, an idiom that may be the modern counterpart to the traditional slow air.
This 1984 release finds Clannad at the height of its career. LEGEND is essentially the soundtrack to the television show, ROBIN OF SHERWOOD, and opens with the theme music, "Robin (The Hooded Man)." Other songs such as "Herne" and "Now is Here" retain the ambient (soaking wet with reverb) sound, though the theme for "Lady Marian" harks back to more traditional harp music. While the '80s synths are dated-sounding, most of the music here represents Irish pop at its finest.

In 1982, Clannad made a shift from playing traditional Irish folk music to performing Irish-influenced pop music. This 1988 release is more upbeat and energetic than some of their other albums such as MACALLA (1985) and LORE (1995). Special guests, such as Bruce Hornsby (who sings on two tracks), Maire Brennan, and others alight in a series of dramatic compositions including "In Search of a Heart," "Second Nature," and "Something to Believe In."
Clannad avoids overly sappy lyrics or melodramatic musical statements. Perhaps the most loved song on this album, "Skellig" is a song blending Irish mythology with poetic images of life's transience. Songwriter Ciaran Brennan takes us on a journey along the Kerry coastline on this tune, introducing us to the ruins of the Vikings and ...

Legend
$14.45 German version digitally remastered from the original tapes features one bonus remix.
1990's ANAM was by far Clannad's biggest-selling album in the United States for four reasons: 1) "world music" was starting to become recognized as its own musical category, and the Irish group's glossy take on traditional folk fit right in; 2) the album's leadoff single was "In A Lifetime," a pop-oriented duet between Maire Brennan and Bono; 3) this was the group's first album since the Brennan family's kid sister Enya had become an international superstar with 1988's WATERMARK; and 4) and most importantly, the haunting "Harry's Game" was used as the background music to a popular Volkswagen ad. But for those elements, ANAM is an entirely typical Clannad album, alternating ...

Legend
$40.45 Kate Bush was never the most prolific of artists; this 1993 album and its attendant singles formed her complete '90s output. Her recordings are carefully conceived, densely orchestrated, and finely tuned, and THE RED SHOES is no exception. Though spontaneity may not be her strong suit, her records are never dull or self-indulgent.
Among Kate Bush's most relaxed recordings, THE RED SHOES features a number of guest appearances, notably Eric Clapton, Nigel Kennedy, and Jeff Beck. Highlights include the appropriately bouncy "Rubberband Girl," the double entendre-laden "Eat the Music," complete with a great horn section, and "Big Stripey Lie," an angry track shot through with distortion and some of Bush's most agonized vocals since her 1980 album ...

Legend
$12.65 JAMAICAN E.T. won the 2003 Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album.
For a legendary dub pioneer who's as famed for burning down his own studio as for the countless groundbreaking records he's created, THE JAMAICAN E.T. is an appropriate title. Spiritually akin perhaps to the likes of the equally visionary Sun Ra, Perry is generally regarded as equal parts genius and crackpot. ...
