| | Chickenfoot CD (2009) Digipak
Les Rois Du Rock CD music
$13.05 In true old-school "supergroup" fashion, Chickenfoot is a hard-rock dream team. Composed of vocalist Sammy Hagar (Montrose, Van Halen), bassist Michael Anthony (Van Halen), drummer Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), and guitar virtuoso Joe Satriani, the combo grew out of a few impromptu jams, but the combination was judged strong enough to record an album and go on tour. The resulting disc is a full-throttle, unapologetic ...
| | Michael Jackson Invincible CD (2001)
Les Rois Du Rock music CDs
$8.49 "You Rock My World" was nominated for the 2002 Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance.
The question for a 42-year-old Michael Jackson heading towards the end of 2001 was whether or not the self-proclaimed King Of Pop could make his presence known on the charts after having spent much of the '90s laying low. If the chart-topping position achieved by INVINCIBLE is any indication, then the answer is a resounding yes. The album is primarily produced by Jersey wunderkind Rodney Jerkins, and Jacko wasted no time tapping other top-flight artists and knob-twirlers to help out, including Teddy Riley, Babyface and R.Kelly.
Michael pulls out all the stops here, whether peppering the opener "Unbreakable" with his trademark falsetto and a posthumous rap from the Notorious B.I.G, or recruiting guitar great Carlos Santana to contribute some tasty playing to the Latin slow-burn of "Whatever Happens." Elsewhere, ...

| | Michael Jackson Number Ones CD (2003)
Les Rois Du Rock album
$22.55 The 1990s may not have been kind to Michael Jackson on a commercial level, due to fickle music tastes and assorted personal controversies, but NUMBER ONES reinforces Jackson's place in pop culture history. Unlike its preceding compilation, HIStory, this anthology trims the fat, although occasionally going overboard in leaving off certified chart-toppers like the Paul McCartney duet "Say Say Say" in lieu of lesser-known, latter-day fare like "Earth Song."
That said, casual fans of the Gloved One will still feast on plenty, ranging from dance classics like "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" and "Rock with You" from 1979's stellar OFF THE WALL to the singles that powered the industry-shifting THRILLER and BAD. Among the hits featured here are "Beat It," (with its tour de force Eddie Van Halen solo), the scathing "Dirty Diana" (with Steve Stevens substituting for Van Halen), and catchy title cuts from the aforementioned albums. Meanwhile, Alien Ant Farm fans get to reacquaint themselves ...
| | Jacksons Destiny CD (1978) Bonus Tracks
Les Rois Du Rock CD music
$8.29 After DESTINY'S opening thumping baseline, funky guitar chords, and Michael Jackson's hiccuping "heeee-heee-heeee," there's only one sensible thing to do--blame it on the boogie. Or blame it on the Jacksons' 1978 platinum-selling album for being so damn good. The tenor of the times was finally right for the band, and everyone involved is on top form. With songs all written and produced by the Jacksons, the emphasis is on booty-shaking music with heart and real soul. Within a year Michael Jackson's OFF THE WALL album, on the charts for 52 weeks, would make him a force to be reckoned with. But on DESTINY, Michael's passion and desire is palpable, giving the album its real power and edge.
Besides "Blame it on the Boogie," DESTINY also features ...

| | Cars It's Alive CD (2006)
Les Rois Du Rock album
$11.09 The New Cars' debut, IT'S ALIVE, revisits 13 of the Cars' classic tracks, including most of their biggest hits: "You Might Think," "Shake It Up," "Let's Go," and "Just What I Needed" among them. Rundgren does a fine job on the vintage material, channeling Ocasek just enough to make the material fly while still being distinctive. Of particular note here are the three new songs written by Rundgren and the band ("Not Tonight" is a highlight), which fit nicely with the more familiar tunes. Overall, this is an intriguing trip down memory lane, and should prove lots of fun for those who missed the Cars the first time around.
Given the mad vogue in the 2000s for the quirky pop of the 1980s, it was only a matter ...
